Instrument cluster LCD 3" or 8"?

I noticed on the US configuration, many of you guys have the 3" LCD display which is on the centre of your instrument cluster. Is that standard for all US Models?

I have the Canadian F30 328i with premium package which includes professional navigation and the 8.8" iDrive display. Is that why I have the longer instrument cluster LCD?

The 3" is in the dash and the 8.8" is on the center console.

Which display are you talking about?

The standard iDrive dash mounted 6.5 " monitor has a 800x400 pixel resolution display.
The extended 8.8" monitor has a 1280x480 pixel resolution display.
The bigger display comes with the Pro Nav (the only Nav available in the US)

There is a separate LCD display in the instrument cluster (option 6WA) that is standard with Nav (and may come with some other configs).

I was referring to the instrument cluster LCD. Ok, so if you have the smaller instrument cluster display, do you still see those Eco Pro/Sport gauges on the dash?

See cluster examples.
The bottom pic show how big the LCD is - runs from between dials to under tach but does not extend under speedo.
Not sure what the std cluster shows in eco-pro.

OK, resurrecting this thread for one question: what is to go in the blank area below the speedometer (see bottom pic)? I am sure this is a common question, but I have not found one thread on it.

Is BMW holding out for future tech to display there? Or maybe ActiveH uses it? I'd rather the speedometer fill the area or give us a digital speed readout!

There is lots of info displayed inthe area extended into and underneath the tach area. In the bottom of the tach area is a virtual gauge that shows driving efficiency (graphic telling you how when your MPG is doing on a real time basis.

Below the tach area is additional indicators for when service is due, warnings, etc.

I believe the F10 5-Series started out with the default cluster similar to the F30 extended cluster - covering under middle + tach but not under speedo. Then, the option for the full digital cluster was added, which was combined with the HUD package in the US.

I thought that the partial digital was upgraded as well to cover the entire width of the cluster but these images may reflect another model.

So, I think there will be an upgrade, maybe first on the F32 coupes and then filtering to F30 with the LCI.
