My Brand Spanking New BMW 328i Luxury Spec.

This is my second car, my first car was and still is because I'll never sell it a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero 2.2L 4 cylinder with a 5 speed manual transmission, that car has one of the nicest if not the nicest and most potent 4 cylinder engines the ecotec from Opel. I absolutely love my new 328i even though I don't hjave some key features such as bms apps, paddle shifts, and the upgaraded navigationn package with head up display but I got a good deal on it on a 48 month lease, I also noticed I'm missing a camera button next to the suspension adjustment button but oh well.

Nice car, congrats.

You're missing the 'camera' button because your car has no cameras.

Having decided to go with the luxury spec line there were only two colours I was willing to pick due to all the chrome trimmings in the luxury line, I feel only white or silver complements chrome trimmings otherwise the chrome stands out in a bad way if you choose any other colour, I would have preferred metallic white but it's not offered in Canada for the 3 series so I stuck non-mettalic white and saved $800 for metallic paint.

Congratulations!!

Can you please take a pictures of your two cars together !?
I want to see the Alero together with the 328i!

And also, could you please do a review between the two 4 cylinder engine...
what are the differences?
what are the pros and cons of each with respect to the other...

Thanks in advance Evans, and welcome among us!

Taking pictures of both cars together is a great idea, I could do it next weekend when my Alero is running again, I hit a curb really hard and bent the left side inner tie rod that will get replaced this week and the alignment done. The Alero Ecotec engine in my opinion is superior to the bimmer's 4 cylinder in terms of refinement, smoothness, and just the noise it makes while mated to a manual gear box, the bimmer's engine advantages to the ecotec are: It's turbocharged so it's makes 100 more horse power and 100 more ft/lb of torque way lower in the rev range like at 1500 or so while the ecotec has to be revved to atleast 3000 rpm to make good power. The bimmer has direct injection and the nicest auto gear box I have ever experienced the 8 speed, as result it beats the Alero in fuel efficiency but then again the Alero is from 2003. My biggest criticism of the 328i really is just the engine noise when revved hard especially before the engine warms up fully, it's harsh, grindy, noisy and unrefined. The ultimate comparison of the two engines will be when the cadillac ATS hits the market, the ATS will have an engine similar to my Alero's the ECOTEC but also turbo charged and will make 30 more horse power than the bimmer, it's 6-speed auto gear box might hurt it but with a manual transmission it should beat the bimmer convincingly engine performancewise.

Here is a pic of my Alero with aftermarket winter performance wheels and tires, notice the rear wheels have disc brakes, I did that convertion myself from drum to disc brakes.

Alberta winters are not nearly as bad as many people think, in fact I'd say Eastern Canada winters are worse because in Eastern Canada the snow and ice stays on the ground for very long, here in Calgary we get chinook winds frequently during winter due to our closeness to the mountains, chinook winds are essentially a warm spell which melts all the snow, infact my winter tires are performance ones and not the more aggressive ice tires and I get by just fine. However, every winter we get atleast two weeks of really extreme cold and I'm talking about -40 degrees and this happens I'd say twice every winter, during this time cars don't start if you don't have high quality synthetic oil lubricating your engine internals and others loose traction including mine.

In Canada the luxury models come with premium leather seats, so yes mine has black leather seats.

I notice no PDC in the front... so the PDC in the premium package is only for the rear?

In my car PDC is only on the rear unlike in Mercedes where it's both front and rear.
