Advice on options please

Hi,

I need to order my company car in the next 2 weeks and I'm having trouble with the options.

I am fairly limited to what I can get but as a base car I can get a 320 M sport with about £600-700 worth of options.

My current car is a e91 330d Msport with a few extras.

Now my question is do I stick with white or blow most of my budget on Mineral Grey? or have a few comforts like heated seats and the like.

Also, I quite fancy beige as a change but not sure with a white car

Thanks

Matt

Garage List
Use your budget to get as many options as you can afford. Difficult to sell a BMW without any options.

If it were me I would go White with heated seats and DAB radio.

I'm sure others would say HK sound, alll depends on what is important to you.

Either way, enjoy

I originally looked at heated seats, folding rear seats and black panel display. Then 19" alloys, then HK but that is my only choice then.

Annoying really, as if I were buying my own I wouldn't have this problem

If you use it for business and spend lots of time in the car, I would make sure I got the enhanced phone connectivity, can't comment on the actual options here as I went for pro nav which includes a lot of them.

Also if you are driving lots, creature comforts would be my preference over 19" alloys. Not much you can buy with £600-700

Whats the benefit with the enhanced phone option?

My main problem is going from an estate to a saloon

I have Mineral Grey and, whilst a lovely colour, it's not worth the cost if you're limited on options.

The folding seats do give plenty of storage scope for a saloon. If you like your music, and listen to your own rather than the radio then HK is a must. Equally, if you do just go with radio, then DAB is worth it.

I have the Pro Nav so can't really advise on single options which are included within it, but if you do have to make/receive a lot of calls then the enhanced phone functions would seem sensible. Not sure if that would include SMS/email functions, but if it does it's very useful to have them read to you by the car while driving.

I wouldn't bother with 19" wheels, certainly not going to offer anything ride-wise and will dent your option funds (not to mention tyre costs later!).

As for beige interior in a white car - are you auditioning for TOWIE or something?????!

Can you not pay for some of the options in a lump sum yourself in addition to what you'll get on the company lease? This might improve the car for you and enhance your driving pleasure.

I would go for Mineral White (£0), Coral Red Leather (£0), Hex + Gloss Black Interior Trim (£0), Heated Front Seats (£300), Park Distance Control Front and Rear (£380), Exterior Folding and Auto Dimming Door Mirrors (£275). That makes it £955 for options. Not too much above your restricted budget.

This will be a very nice car.

Why folding mirrors?

Depends on how narrow the entrance to your garage might be and, as in my case, compounded by it being at an awkward angle to the side of the house.
Simply put, I wouldn't get in or out of my garage without the folding mirror option - perhaps 'F30AM' is in a similar situation.

Has anyone got the upgraded speakers? not the HK and if so are they better than the standard?

As it stands my spec would be;

320d M sport
Alpine White
Black leather
Brushed ali with black trim
Heated seats
Hifi upgrades

What is the standard MP3 (iPod) connectivity like? will it show album artwork or do i need something else?

Thanks
Matt

You need the enhanced Bluetooth for artwork, it also means you can use the standard cable instead of the y-cable thingy.

I've similarly limited my spec and this was first on the list as I will be using the car for work. Gives you two phone connectivity, voice, Bluetooth audio streaming and the all important album artwork!

You can't fold them manually? Admittedly, a bit of a pain if parking in a garage every day, but the minority actually do.

Useful option for some, but not really top of the options list to me. My last 3 cars have had folding mirrors and I can count on one hand how many times I used them.

Think if going upgraded audio, may as well be HK, only £200 extra over business, and I expect much better sound.

On my e92 I had the business stereo upgrade and it was well worth it over the stand system. This time I'm going for HK. As others have said it all depends what's important to you.

It's all down to personal preference and, for me, they're pretty high on the list after dynamic options such as engine, transmission and suspension variations.
Apart from negotiating my garage entrance, it's now become routine for me to flick the fold switch every time I park the car - ok, I know I can do that with the key, but I prefer using the switch to obviate the worst-case scenario of someone parking close enough to result in mirror contact when they automatically deploy on unlocking.
If you want to call that obsessive or paranoid, then I willingly stand guilty as charged .

Yep I need them for the same reason, that and surround view are must haves for me.
