Not sure if it matters but there is a much better resale with auto boxes.

I have the sport auto and I wouldn't have it any other way now.

In comfort standard, the car is smooth and very nice to drive. In sport auto, gear changes are faster and a lot more aggressive.

On top of that, I had the same opinion regarding the paddles. I thought it would be a gimmick but I find when I drive the car more aggressively, they are bags of fun.

It's a great option to have and will also have a positive impact on resale.

(Just as an example, there is a 320d M Sport manual sat at my dealer and has been there for over a year with just 10k on the clock. Nobody wants it as they don't want a manual option and it's also red. Very few people want a red BMW!!!)
