Insurance

Good morning all. Do any of you chaps who purchased your 335D around a year ago have your insurance renewals through yet?

My insurance from 12 months ago has risen from £340 to £560.

None of my circumstances have changed.
All the quotes I got 12 months ago were in the region of £340 - £390.
All my quotes this year (even using comp websites) are £540+

Now all I can put it down to is that you lot are driving like twits and pushing up premiums.

Anyone else in the same boat with a F31 335D?

My Mrs' Swift Sport (with an at fault claim against her went down from £230 to £210. That's up for renewal at the same time as mine.

I'm about to insure a 335d and its looking to be 20% more than my RR Sport cost this time last year with no other changes to my circumstances

Some quotes were fairly bonkers at double everything else

Try others not on those comparison websites, Direct Line, Chris Knott and Performance Direct etc.

You probably know that the comparison sites are owned by insurance companies so most are biased.

Insurance has gone up this year again, but spend some quality time looking, it might just pay off.

Just run some quotes for my 335d that I take delivery of on Friday. I did this because my current insurer Esure wanted another £120 over and above the cost of my 330d for the remaining 10 months of my policy. LV about £130 cheaper at £370 for the year. Think I'll switch in the morning.

Mine has dropped a bit actually, but that's because I've cut my miles from 30k to 20k.
Paying £600, which is great given all the mods I've got!

Just gone though the LVE website instead of one of the comparisons and got a quote of £500, a saving of £100

Happy days

Mine was 'offered' to me at £630 by Admiral and when I asked them to match the lowest price from a company that I'd never heard of, they did so straight away with no complaint. Went down to £464 fully comp protected.
Winner I thought, until I got a puncture 2 days later and spent he saved money on a new tyre!😡

You guys are moaning with prices like that!
Even though IPT has gone up, mine has gone from £1k a year on the 3 series to £1065 a year switching into a F06.

Just to let you all know. I ended up taking Mrs F off my insurance and it dropped to £260! I'm now off to spend the savings on beer! That was negotiating with Admiral. Best I got on comparison sites was £440.

I think some of this is Tax hike on insurance...I think there was also another load in the Autumn Statement. Not sure when that kicks in tho.

Daft question.
When any of you have received points mid way through your years insurance, have you informed you insurance company immediately? And has it caused an immediate rise in cost, or is it the next term of insurance they hike it up?

You need to inform them immediately because your risk has changed, if you fail to disclose and then end up having an accident then you could find yourself uninsured. If its just 3 points and you had none already, its unlikely they will increase the price of the policy. If you had 6 already then they might...phone them

OK, I'm an old git but my premium on 29 Sept was £289.77. I used quotemehappy.com which is Aviva on line.

That's with 15+ yrs protected NCD, reduced to 9 as it's their max. Two claims in 3 years, 12k miles, including the wife who has a 3 yr medical restriction. Plus the XS is only £330 this year.

I Can't find the price for last year as it was all grouped by Admiral but I recall it was upper £300s, and the XS was £450.

Maybe the claims are longer ago now?? Maybe that elusive age related price drop they've been promising me since I was 17 really does happen at 55

Depends on your insurer, best read the smallprint.
Admiral:

You must also tell us immediately about the following changes:

for any of the people insured, or to be insured.
• Criminal convictions for any of the people insured, or to be
insured.

I insured through LV last year, this year's renewal was up £60 but they agreed to match the "new customer quote" that was exactly the same as last years...
