Sun protection glass % ?

Does anyone know how much % 'the sun protection glass' is tinted on the GT? The dealer didn't have one. Is it really dark, because when i look at pictures it doesn't seem dark at all.

That's what the stock tint is in the US. The US build sheet doesn't list darker options, but they may be available in Europe. It would be nice if you could get the same tint on the rear windows as is used on the moonroof.

There is only one option here in europ afaik and it's called sun protection glass. I couldn't find the % of tint. I hope it isn't too light. Thank you . Can't wait for my first BMW.

That's where there's confusion for US owners. We have no options, there is only a standard equipment light green tint that's about 70%. If that's the same base offering you have then it stands to reason that the 'sun protection' will be darker. But if your standard glass is clear then what's called 'sun protection' might be what we get as standard here. The only way for you to know for sure is to see it in person.

That's different from the US configurator, we have no option for darker rear windows. I estimate the rear windows on that picture to be between 20%-35%.

I think it's 30%, it states it on the glass IIRC

Does that mean it blocks 70% of the light trying to come through the window?
Good that I also ordered the sunroof

Yup, the normal windows are tinted so that 70% of light gets through, and the darker rear ones are tinted so that 30% of the light gets through. Really makes a difference to the temperature in the back. My small person is sad that no one can see her wave at people now though

They're only as good as the skill of the installer.

I put it on my rear window, for heat rejection in summer. You may not have that need where you are. I did the rear quarter windows with the leftovers, didn't bother with the side windows.

I wish we had that trouble in the UK for more than 3 days a year
