8.5" and 9.5" Rim width xdrive tire suggestions

Hey guys. I currently own a 2016 435 xdrive on stock suspension and stock 18" wheels.

I just received 19" rims from a friends car:

Front width: 8.5"
Rear width: 9.5"

Anything wrong with running square tires on this combo? (Maybe 255/35/19)

I have already looked into staggered tire combos and am considering that as well.

Thanks!

although there is nothing functionally wrong with running square tire size on those staggered rim sizes, it may look weird to those with trained eyes. 255/35/19 will be bulging slightly on the 8.5" front and slightly stretched on the 9.5" rear.

with stock x-drive suspension, 235/40/19+265/35/19 is best on staggered rims, like this...

Thanks for the info! Forgot to mention, offset for 8.5" fronts is ET35 and the 9.5" rears is ET38.

I think I'm going to try and lower the car soon, KW SC perhaps. Would you suggest a different combination if the car was lowered say, 1" all around?

265/35/19 at ET38 will have slight poke but doable. i'd prefer higher offset in the rear but you may prefer that appearance.

if lowered, you could run 245/35/19+255/35/19 which would give you better handling balance by reducing understeer due to having more grip up front. there'll also be less tire shoulder poke at the rear due to slight stretch.

you can also do 275/30/19 at rear with(245/35) however there'll be slight tire shoulder poke due to width and increased understeer. it depends on whether you're more fashion or function type.

I like the idea of 245 and 255.

Overall diameter for 245/35/19 is ~25.75"

OD for 255/35/19 is ~ 26.03"

If my calculations are correct that amounts to ~1.09% difference. Have you seen this set up often?

The only real reservations I have on changing the wheels is the transfer case.

I don't track my car, but I drive it hard occasionally. Do you think the decrease handling with 265 or 275 rears would be apparent in daily driving?

Thanks for letting me bug you

i have not seen 245/35+255/35 often. if you convert everything to millimeters the nominal difference is 1.01%. note*...in the real world all the different brands and models of tires have different dimensions in a given size.

a professional driver, like chris harris, might detect all the subtle nuances with staggered tires, track widths and the setup's overall balance, but i doubt you'll be able to notice. i offer my the limited knowledge on the subject so you can make the most informed decision possible.
