How to know if I can fit a different tire size?
First time really seriously thinking about tires, frustrating and confusing as hell
Will be starting a job soon that'll keep me very busy and just need something to not worry about the entire year around. I have a 2018 440i X drive with 20 inch rims (OEM) The tire sizes currently are: Fronts - 225/35/R20 Rear - 255/30/R20 When I search for all season tires I can throw on, I basically find no tires. Is there any other tire size I can search for that would still work on this car w/o damaging anything and so it can be all season? |

Yeah, these seem to be odd-ball sizes.
Basically keep the rolling diameter roughly the same (~26”), and for AWD keep the FR to RR with-in about 1% of each other. 235/35R20 245/30R20 265/30R20 Would all work and tire rack has Pilot Sport All Seasons available in that size. If you want to keep staggered I’d go 235/265 FR/RR. Although 265’s are near the width limit for an 8.5” rim - they’ll bulge a bit. Otherwise go 245 square. Do NOT pair the 235s in front with the 245’s - the difference in diameter is too much for an AWD. However, honestly in Canada I would strongly recommend keeping the summer tires, and getting an extra set of cheap rims, and putting on winter tires. All Seasons are really 3 season at best, and make a lot of compromises to achieve that. Last edited by SuperLomi; 06-07-2022 at 09:29 PM.. |
