Adaptive Cruise Control Retrofit

Owing to my failure to read the manual properly, I failed to order my car with ACC.

I have done what keyboard research I can, and contact the dealers (who's answer was naturally "no"), however, does anyone know if retrofitting to an F30 or F31 has been done?

Even if it got a bit expensive I think it would be worth it for my sanity.

Any advice, pointers or leads would be appreciated.

Many thanks

I think the cheapest option would be to trade yours in for a new build with it specced. No jokes, it is a very expensive retro.

You see the required kit on eBay from time to time, for around £1200 for used kit (electronics under bonnet parts only).

In that kit you get an ACC module, wiring and the radar sensor.

You'd still need the steering wheel controls, on off switch (lower dash), bumper (grille) and brackets.

And the whole lot coded.

I bet it would cost >£2k for used kit and a lot more for new.

Not worth it IMO.

Thank you, useful info, if it racks up that much then your right, its not worth it I might keep my eyes open for the kit on line might be worth a punt.

add it to a list of things for next time :-)

Probably best to ask vorph as he is the guru around here for retrofits.

But it won't be cheap.

Interesting that you're keen to get it, quite a few people are ambivalent about it (me included) although Teaston's a big fan. Why so keen out of interest?

My journeys in the AM and pm typically are on the A12 or A14, well know for sudden invisible cause jams for which this system would take some of the gripe of on off the brake all the time.

I appreciate its draw backs, as my wifes 308 has it but it would lend itself well to the journeys I do.

Ill live without it, its more frustrating that the "cruise with brake function" is used for slowing to a set speed, not slowing to suit the vehicle in front which was what I assumed it was - Still, we all know what they say about assumptions.

I'm a big fan, perfect for sitting in traffic. It is a bit annoying on a clear motorway when it slows down before you have a chance to overtake, but turning off distance control fixes that. Must have option IMO.

I do bloody love a ACC, I drive with it absolutely everywhere! It does need a bit of help on roundabouts and tight corners and of course if there is no vehicle in front, but apart from that it's great!

well, contacted the only lead I had which was a company in a far flung corner of the world, who do this as thier business.

For consultancy only to provide me design and guidance on parts and install..

£1200!

I think ill move on and put the £1200 to better use elsewhere, thanks for the input if anything changes ill update.

Regards

Same here, I thought ACC and HUD would be a gimmick and rarely used, they are my two favourite bits of technology on the car, my only dislike is when you are on the inside lane and the car in front pulls off the motorway, to reveal a good stretch in front it just accelerates up to undertake the sh!t out of the middle lane. I think it pisses people off, it's the car not me though!

Sounds cheap to me, I'd expect ACC retrofit to be IRO £2k
