Windscreen noise

At motorway speeds I'm regularly getting wind noise from the front screen. Best way to describe it being the same sound as if some cheap roof bars are fitted, not a whistling noise. Never a continuous noise but minutes at a time and much more frequent in the last few weeks.

Deteriorating screen bonding perhaps? Nothing obvious externally but the screen isn't BMW marked and was replaced prior to me buying the car (May 2016).

Anyone else come across this? Sick of having to turn the radio right up!

Cheers

Mine whistled continuously from new. I thought it was the mirrors. I took it back. Initially they told me they all do it. I wasn’t best pleased with that and had the general manager in reception minutes later. I asked him why a £45k car was so bad. He agreed to look at it and to his credit they improved it significantly. Sadly all it did was exacerbate the road noise!

Two years later the problem disappeared when I swapped it for an Aldi

I had this after the screen had been replaced onetime. (Autoglass).

It was ok up to around 60mph but then quickly became noisy after that.

A second autoglass guy replaced it and it was obvious the original didn't have a continuous bead of sealant around it.
There was none at the bottom corners.

The replacement was ok.

Yes I'd say sealant. If there is a lot of play then you could probably do it yourself with some Sika sealant. Play as in there are areas on the windscreen you can press down and it comes back up.

If there is no play and the screen is good then have it removed and refitted.

Mine left the factory bent! The screen is a few millimetres higher on the off side! It is one of those things you don't notice unless you look for it but annoys the hell out of you when spotted!

Thanks all.

There's no flex in the screen, but there's an obvious kink in the rubber gasket running across the top -guessing that's not helping. Thinking this'll be a struggle for a warranty claim so looks like I'm going to one of the screen firms.
