2014 320i coding. DO IT!

For anyone out there with a 320i that is debating whether to code, especially the SAT, DO IT!!! Idk how the 328 computer is with shifting but omg the 320 without SAT to SAT has made my sport package come alive! I can't even believe simple coding could do that much. It drives like a brand new car, and I'm not just saying that. Before sport was rough to drive because the shifting was horrendous, now it's super smooth and crisp and quick even without going into manual mode. You would never think you are driving a 320i.

Thanks to Frogman for hooking me up!

And thanks to the community for helping find answers quickly

We enabled EBT, SAT, and lots of other coding coolness.

Glad you are enjoying it!

For free. Frogman did it out of the goodness of his heart and mutual love for BMW.

The SAT is sport auto transmission coding. Basically makes your trans shift like the m235. Idk how it is on a 328, but on a 320 it's a night and day difference, it really is a completely different car. The shifts are smooth and quick and you get up to speed much quicker. Plus it adds sport+ which is so much fun. And LAUNCH CONTROL!

EBT is enhanced Bluetooth. Basically turned my crappy phone call only Bluetooth into audio streaming capable. I can even read my emails and messages on the idrive.

We coded this and many more goodies. Definitely worth it for the 320 and more so if with a sport package

I had SAT, EBT, and launch control done in my 320xi too. I agree, it's a lot more fun. Just curious, what "other coding coolness" did you have done?

I'm confused as to what does this do, I have a 2014 320 and when I'm in Sports Mode and I push the stick to the side it seems to already have Sports T, since it shows the gears 1-8...

SAT gives you sport +. In addition it codes the transmission to shift quicker. You get smoother, quicker shifts in all modes but most noticeable in sport mode and manual sport.

Yes, it's the same on all F3x frames:

ECU: HU_ENTRY, or HU_CIC, or HU_NBT / 3001 EXBOX / RDC_SAFETY to aktiv.

If anyone else needs help and is local to the central nj area ... I can also help for free. Alternatively I can help remotely via team viewer .., you just need an ENET cable, as well as a laptop with windows so and a Ethernet and wifi connection.

1. On the decoder, how do I tell if I have SAT on my 2014 328?

2. Would this make any difference on a 328?

3. How do I add launch control to my 328?

Thank you!

You can see the difference between 205-automatic transmission and 2TB-SAT

If your car has the shift paddles; you have SAT. As stated above, the SAT option code is 2TB. Check your order sheet / decoder to see if you have it. If you have option 205, then you have the non-SAT features.

SAT can be coded is you don't already have it. You just won't have the paddles or the Sport shifter. If you don't have SAT and have enough miles on it to know how your car behaves, coding SAT makes a very noticeable difference.

If you have a '14 and SAT, you should already have launch control enabled.

If you have a coding setup, you can check EGS / 3000 / LC. If it's active, then Launch Control is enabled on your car.

If you mean SAT, then yes, it looks like it should work since SAT is an available option for the 328d xdrive.

I just coded the EGS module options for SAT last night on my 328i.

Before, I always thought the car was a bit slow off the line, as if the first 1-2 gears numbed the engine down or a bad case of turbo lag. But after the coding...

Wow! I can noticeably feel the difference and the above complaints no longer apply. Power delivery is quick, even with my light foot.

I was wondering why SAT was a cheap $500 option when I was building the car, now I know.

Yep, SAT seems to be just the differently shaped shifter, the paddles, and the coding.

No real plans yet, there hasn't been all that much interest lately. I post meets in the California section, so look there for coding meet announcements.

I'll probably schedule one for some time in early August depending on interest.

Other than the two EGS options, is there anything else needed?

I did some searching and it looks like some are recommending that the SAT option be coded in.
