I would send inquiry to them and they should be able to answer all your questions. When I was looking at getting upgraded sound system, I asked them a bunch of questions and they were very helpful. Unfortunately, I didn't end up upgrading my sound system (I do have BavSound ghost underseat subs installed, but nothing crazy).

Bimmertech amp is plug and play replacement for stock. Very easy and high quality.

My car has the HK system but the same basic idea applies.
The harness just connects you to the stock system on both sides. You would then need an LOC/DSP/EQ/XOVER between that harness and the amp(s).

Technic is very responsive to emails so if you have any questions just ask, he is quite knowledgeable about these systems. Or there's threads around that talk about upgrading the base stereo.

You could do what I'm going to do bc i have the same system as you and i thinks its better than going with the bimmertech amp in many ways

Be carefull. An Hifi or HK Sub Wont fit into a base audio subwoofer. I found it out the hard way!

A gladen sub will fit in both...

I'm not confident that those Vibe speakers are good quality since their price is 300GBP for 2 subs and 2 front speakers.
I just grabbed a pair of Eton B100W for the front doors and thinking of a pair of Match 8BMWD:

I didn't end buying the technic harness I just built my own harness for about 20 pounds so saved big time and I then upgraded the speakers and installed a 4ch and mono bass amp just need to tidy all the wires now its done but it does sound so much better now especially with two 10 inch subs working hard on the boot to round off the bass

I'm thinking of saving space over a big massive box I have now also I will be upgrading the amps to jl audio these amps was just to make sure buildung my own harness worked and the whole system overhaul went to plan

standard hifi speakers/subs/amp upgrade: bavsound vs other aftermarket?

I have a 2017 330i xDrive sportwagon with standard hifi, I own the car, not leased. I have heard lots of great reviews for bavsound, so I'm sure they sound great AND they are plug and play. BUT, has anyone compared to other high quality aftermarket speakers and amps (e.g., JL Audio)? The question for me is, if I plan to pay an professional to install/rewire aftermarket speakers, subs and amp, is bavsound still the best choice? I guess the same question could be asked if I was just considering an amp only upgrade as I think that may be the weakest link in the audio system. Thanks!!!

(Disclaimer - I have not done a side by side cost comparison yet with installation costs.)

If you were well versed in how speakers work you'd use data sheets like this to compare different drivers:
https://www.parts-express.com/pedocs...ifications.pdf

Doing so in hi-fi and pro-sound is standard operating procedure. In auto sound driver data sheets are pretty much non-existent. There's no excuse for it, the gear required to take all the measurements shown comes to less than $500, but it is what it is. You'd also need the data for the stock BMW drivers for comparison. That I do have, because being a professional loudspeaker designer I have the necessary measurement tools. The data tells me what you already suspect, that the BMW drivers are perfectly OK. A better amp wouldn't hurt, as would a good DSP for fine tuning the sound. Where the amp is concerned anything less than doubling the power of the stock amp isn't worth the cost or effort.
As for purely subjective reviews, they're as useful as opinions on which tastes better, Coke or Pepsi. When you expect something will sound better it will, especially if you spent big bucks on it.

I suspect very few have actually priced out what the stock drivers cost. I have. This is the breakdown for the Bavsound Stage One versus the H-K system:

Bavsound Stage 1 $ 900

BMW H-K
Center Tweeter $ 83
Center Midrange $ 67
Door Tweeters (4) $ 288
Door Midrages (4) $ 480
Rear Tweeters (2) $ 166
Rear Midranges (2) $ 128

Total $1209

So based on price, and the lack of any objective data, one would conclude that the H-K speakers are just fine.
