Gear change indicator on F30
Hello all. Although I have now been driving for long enough to know when to change gears on a car, I was just wondering why the indicator on my dash had disappeared.
Is it true that it doesn't show if you drive in 'sport' mode ?. There's nothing in the manual on this. Thanks all. |

I had a suggestion to press and hold the BC button in for 5 seconds, at the end of the indicator stalk, as apparently that's how it worked on the older models. I tried that at it seemed to have started some sort of countdown on the MPG figures. It shot up to 99mpg and then started counting down !!!. No idea what I have done there !!!. |

Hi all just tried resetting the trip computer value via the idrive along with all of the other settings but that doesn't seem to have done the trick. So I pressed and held the BC button in again for 5 secs whilst the mpg figures were showing. This time it went straight to 37.9mpg and then just kept changing every few seconds!!!. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks |

The BC will cycle through a few options...
1- off 2- Date 3- Time 4- Average MPG 5- Instantaneous MPG (Which is probably what you are in) 6- I forget what else.. And I think gear shift points only show up in eco pro and comfort. It's suppose to show you optimal shift points for most economical driving... Thus in sport and sport+ you don't have that. Cause it's assuming you're in that mode to drive sporty. FYI I have a 6-speed manual. |

It is also your average MPG is reset so the car is getting used to the driving style and it is going to take a while to make it stop counting down. I have done this like 3 times while on the AVG MPG option and it went from 100->40-> 17.7mpg in a days drive. I don't get why this thing eats gas like this. when i go on the freeway it doesn't make a difference in MPG.
