Its definitely some bugs or glitches in the system,
I strongly Advise you to go to your Dealer ASAP, because most of the safety features are electronically Operated, you definitely don't want to compromise you and your family/Passengers safety~

Mine randomly rebooted every 30 secs on a 35 mile drive today.

- Sirius radio would start up and then go silent
- FM / HD radio seemed to work
- Bluetooth / Telephone wouldn't work

I'd see an orange 'Signal Lost' message on the screen and it would go blank and iDrive would reboot.

Did the same thing over and over until I reached my destination. Later when I headed home, everything seemed to be ok. I hope this is a one time thing ...

I'm already dealing w/ repairs after someone hit / scraped up the driver's side of my car this week...

I believe there's an SIB being release for this, check with your dealer...

This can also be caused by a corrupt MP3 file. If you have a USB stick/phone/etc plugged in, try removing it and see if you still get the reboots.

Really? Last week, I just had my car's software updated for the first time since last year...

or could it be related to the latest software update?
but then again... it didn't act up until yesterday, and nothing today...

This just began happening to me yesterday, about every 30 seconds or so, the screen goes dark for about 15 seconds. It comes back on and the BMW logo shows, it plays where it was almost like it was just a hiccup. This was with my iPhone 5 plugged in AND unplugged as well. What I did was key cycle, (parked and had lunch actually) allowing CANBUS to "re-boot" as it were which usually clears transient codes. Try this and see if the problem persists. (I have CA and haven't had the issue since cycling)

My car was fine yesterday so whatever happened to all of us on Saturday, it seems to have gone away for me. I used Tool32 and didn't find any fault codes so...? So long as it is fixed I'm happy.

It's been happening to me since saturday as well. Tonight was really bad. it kept restarting. Satellite radio was completely out. Every station had a $ sign next to them. Never seen that before. Not sure what is causing this. I unplugged my USB stick so nothing was plugged in...still was restating every 30 seconds

well it happened again for me this evening...

Am gonna bring it back to the dealership for service and inspection.

I got no Nav. Just got software update the week before, so i am going to say it definitely has something to do with that, since my car was doing fine before that... Any one of you got that software update too ?

I have an idrive without nav and had many reboots this afternoon as well. Satellite would not work and showed $$ signs next to it. Will take into service and program ASS as well.

I had the same issue beginning Saturday and I haven't had a software update since January...

(Just a conspiracy theory: ) But Could it be that BMW have been starting to access our car's data from/by satellite but somehow the system isn't working well enough, making the i-drive reboot itself ??

just a hypothesis... since it would seem that everyone, with different combo spec, have started to notice this only this weekend ???

I had a similiar problem regarding the idrive system however for me it was an isolated incidenct of the system cutting out/not booting up. With that said I do have a high pitch noise and clicking behind the dash. Has anyone else experienced this in tandem with idrive issues?

My car is at the dealer for this very issue and although I'm sure all they will do is a software update, I will keep all apprised of the issue once service is complete.

Going to follow this. Have a 2013 335i that I picked up in May and it did this exact same thing Saturday night for a couple of hours. It was fine Sunday morning and hasn't done it since. Seems odd that this started happening at the exact same time for more than one person, no?

That's what's odd to me. I could actually see it having something to do with a corrupted MP3 file if that's what's being said. But at the same time.. we ALL had the same corrupted mp3 file within hours of each other?

Logically it sounds more like some sort of over-the-air update that either went wrong, or kept restarting the app while files were still being updated. But theoretically, that's not how anything is updated...

The only things that gets updates like that would be a satellite radio subscription. I know some people have mentioned seeing the $$ next to sat radio stations upon restarts, but seems like BMW would have a little more control over the situation than to let Sirius take down their iDrives.

And I've seen my Satellite radio do an update like that and you just get a message on screen and the music stops for a while - nothing like what people are describing in here.
