Not according to some on this board that have had both. As least not enough difference to notice.
Well, don't know what to say to that.
But I started with Stage 1 then upgraded to Stage 2 on both of my F10 528 and F15 X5 35i.
I do notice 1 thing, the Stage 1 is more jerky, while the Stage 2 is more smooth. That's where a lot of users says the Stage 1 is more noticeable.
That's based on my experience on my own cars and customers cars that I've installed them on.

Could you elaborate a little more on when you say "stage 1 is more jerky"?

With Stage 1, you can feel the sudden increase of the boost. So, you can feel the car suddenly push.

What max pressure do they run? stg 1 versus stage 2, map 1.
And
Is the configurable map also prepared in order for me not start from scratch?

As for Stage 2 map 2, you need a free flow exhaust at the minimum... Do you count the ER 200 cell cat a part of this, or does one have to go catless?

Will the authorities be able to measure the difference between the stock and the ER cat?

TIA/Krelle

If I remember correctly, Stage 1 is +2 or +3 psi from stock.
While Stage 2 map 1 is +4 or +5 psi from stock.
You can use Stage 2 map 1 from scratch.
You can use Map 2 with Hi-flow cat.
As far as authority, I am not sure. But I you are experienced, the catless will put out rotten egg smell from the tailpipe.
I hope that clear up your questions.

Thanks, and mostly.
I know about the smell. However the question was related to whether the ER catted dp would pass an inspection unnoticiable with regards to the exhaust fumes. (I know they'll spot the difference if they look at the cat itself..).

Was that measured electronically or with a gauge?
What is stock pressure?
Thanks, Krelle

I have read 3.5psi added from stock as well on stage 1. I've seen dynos on the forum from people running stg 1 and seems to be 310whp and 350wtq with no other mods. Nice bump in power for a 5min plug n' play mod.

Would a Borla S-type (full catback) count as a "free flow" exhaust? I still have stock downpipe (and never plan on the mess of getting a different downpipe), but I'd potentially like to run map 2. Also, does anyone know the increased psi with the "older" MPPK (+20 hp +32 torque)? Would it be worth it to upgrade to either BMS Stage 1 or the JB4 if I already have the MPPK?

Stock dp is an obstruction! However the stock cat back exhaust can actually take a lot more than it's born to cope with. But others sound and look better.

MPPK has great torque but less power. I got it only for the burbling..

@Krelle,
If it smog check, I believe you should pass. Never saw it done first hand.

@The Nerd,
I have saw it done. And BMS also said that it can be done.
But then, the question is, why?
You should've invest that money to the JB4, downpipe, and exhaust.
As for the exhaust, yes, with that you will be able to run Map 2.
On my F15, I am still on stock downpipe and exhaust. But since the stock exhaust system is using a 3" straight pipe (no resonator), that allow me to run on map 2 with the EWG.

If I am to buy the ER catted dp evidently it must be having the same envirimental qualities as the stock. This in order to pass our emmision test which we have to pass every two years.
Otherwise there is "no" difference ER catted dp versus ER dp to me as I would have to dismount this to pass the test.
I believe many europeans would like this matter solved, so if there's anyone out there who has tried stuffing a probe up their exhaust or passed the test with a race cat, please let me know.

Well I wouldn't pass because of db. But as you mentioned earlier it's not difficult to install so I went with ER catless, but I still want that akra exhaust to ensure no problems with map 2.

Are you saying that you've tried, and failed the test?

No,it's not that big a deal to change, but if it could be avoided it wouldn't have the WAF to comment on the smell. Belive power isn't that much off.

No. I haven't tried but I know how ridiculous the registration inspection is here along with the insanity of quiet hour laws. So I'll be uninstalling my entire setup when the time comes.

This may have been covered before, but if I buy a stage 1, if I want to go jb4 stage 2 later I can upgrade without paying the full price of a jb4 stage 2 correct?

Yes, you can upgrade or just get a new set of JB4 Stage 2 and sell the Stage 1.
