Any idea why BMW is holding back on ones for manual transmissions? Do they need beefier ones due to the possible shock that can be induced by dropping the clutch?

(He even quoted a higher Price for the blank part, then listed in the official BMW Price sheet on their Website) Haven't even asked my swiss dealer, as they are usually 30% higher in price. I mean, for like $ 3500.- I would be all in... I'm jealous... |

The turning radius on our cars is actually much tighter than you'd think. The Home Depot parking lot next to my dealer was more than adequate, as I really only needed a few parking spaces across two isles.

Speaking of snow...
I still expect that the xDrive will do better in the snow, and launch better in general. But the LSD should get the nod for the track, and when you add in the cost of an obligatory Dinan (or other third party) suspension for the XDrive for really quick driving the LSD pricing looks more reasonable.

And it's awesome, by the way : )

Cost is covered in this thread (back on page 2 I think) Review, I think Jetbill and I covered that also in this thread on page 3.

I'm trying to get this installed but dealer is quoting me $1000 just for labor!?!? They mentioned that there is programming involved, have you guys had to have your car reprogrammed to work with the part?

There's no programming, they are full of shit. Go somewhere else.
It's purely mechanical. it's probably a few hundred to drop and reinstall the LSD...2.5 hours labor is what a BMW dealership quoted me ($160 an hour X2.5).

I've read no programming and been told there is programming. In any case your quote is ridiculous.

I got my MLSD installed in march this year and did participate in the operation and they DID code the car after installation.

I'm probably going to go the Quaife route when it comes to a LSD. My understanding is that the M Performance LSD is a clutch based design which will require rebuilds over the lifetime of the vehicle.

The reality however is that tracking only a couple of times a year this clutch type LSD might not need a rebuild until 80k miles.

That's what I paid, what's so ridiculous? There's no coding. I've driven it and tracked it for thousands of miles without a coding...
