Considering getting a M Performance exhaust from the dealership

I picked up a 2014 328i Xdrive a few weeks ago and I'm considering getting the M Performance exhaust from the dealership.

Is this a full exhaust change? or just a muffler change? For those who did the upgrade what did you do? Does it even make a difference?

M performance exhaust is an axleback exhaust, so essentially just the muffler. IMO, it is not worth it - the sound is very minimal, and no power gains.

If you're going with an axleback, I have the Active Autowerke exhaust. It is much louder than the MPE, but even then, it feels quiet to me. More bassy note, but from inside it is relatively sedate. Definite hp/tq gain through my butt dyno.

Other good options are Eisenmann, or 335i Exhaust conversion, or perhaps Remus.

For the price of the MPE you could probably get a full catback exhaust.

Couple things :
1- As mentioned above for the price, you can probably get a full system that gives you a better sound + weight saving + better airflow
2- before getting it from your local dealership check online prices, lots of website have it on sale.

As someone who has had it I can tell you it is overpriced. That being said if you do buy it from a dealership don't pay more then 800 before tax. My dealership matched that price from a BMW dealership that was selling it on eBay.

Definitely worth it. I've had it for about a year and it's still my favorite mod, and I've never once thought it needed to be louder.

Ditto (well, only about a month installed). But I do love it. But I have different needs. I have a wife and child and can't have an intensely loud exhaust like I used to have when I was single. It gives my whisper-quiet 2013 328i just enough audible feedback when I'm driving it harder. Is it overpriced for what it is? Probably.

I love my MPE. Not over the top at all, but in sport mode with hard acceleration, it crackles on upshifts and sounds great. Pop it into Eco Pro and DS at the same time, and it pops like crazy when you lift off in first gear. Otherwise, it's pretty sedate, but I'm definitely happy with it.

I'm looking at doing the same. I would go with a less expensive option but I'm able to get it almost at cost and residualize it into my lease so a $10/month increase is a lot easier than $600 plus for any other option. I've heard the MPE in person on the 335 but never on a 328. All exhaust start to sound the same to me after the hundreds of videos. I do love this one though.

Just got my M Sport Exhaust installed this week on my 328i at the dealer; while they charged me 1.5 hours for labor...it is very nice. Not too loud, just right. Actually, not as loud as the PE exhaust I put on my E92 (and interestingly enough, that is full cat back and they only charged one hour of labor )

For reference I got my MPE installed at a local muffler shop. Literally 15 mins from when I drive in until I drove out.
Had it for 2 months now and is awesome, love the pops and farts!
