Replacing Tyres - Pirelli or Bridgestone?

I've been advised by service that I need two replacement rear tyres. Happy to stay with run flats. The car wears ContiSport Contact (I think) at the moment.

Continental are out of stock until mid October so my options are either Pirelli or Bridgestone.

I don't have model details though - I've asked for more info from the dealer.

Any ideas on which would be better? Have been quoted $456/tyre for Bridgestone and $390/tyre for Pirelli.

I'm on Bridgestones and the only info I can offer is that when I had a puncture I was able to get it repaired which I believe some run flats don't allow. Saved me a lot of money. Repair was $35.

Thank for the feedback. I'll keep that in mind when I make a decision.

I have too many unlucky punctures on my Pierelli P Zero 19" so Bridgestone might be the way to go. would be fun to get the replacement tyre from my next service. I only have one original (Front Right) from my original delivery, others had been changed in the past 12 months...

Same as MP423, I'm on Bridgestone S001 and had a rear puncture that was repaired $30.
As he suggested, not all run-flats can be repaired. I have a feeling that the Pirelli P Zero fall into this category. Perhaps the folks that run these tyres can confirm (or not).

Yes, P Zero is a vampire for your wallet on punctures, no repair. ONLY REPLACEMENT. Some tyre shops 'can' repair it depending on the puncture.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I ended up finding two Continental ContiSport 5's on eBay, brand new and direct from the shop. Have purchased them and will go get them fitted this weekend.

In the end, I decided to go a little lighter on the wallet and the front tyres are the Contis so all 4 will be the same - not that it matters, but my OCD tendencies will be satisfied ha!

328ihp, my office is in Parramatta but I don't make it further west than that regularly. Mine is a sport line too, not the M.

Side note, picked it up from service this afternoon and auto stop start doesn't work. Go figure. Perhaps it'll begin functioning again after a rest tonight.

ADGE7,
Sometimes the ASS will not operate if your battery is not in peak condition.
I leave my car parked up in the garage at home for weeks on end while I'm working overseas and often the ASS does not work until the car has been on a long run and the battery fully charged.
I have noticed this more often during the cold of winter. It wasn't very noticeable during the summer.
As a side note, I also have dashcams that are "on" when parked, and this also reduces the efficiency of the battery, even though the cameras shut down when the battery voltage drops to 12.0 or 11.8 volts.

Bridgestone make a much better RUN FLAT tire then Pirelli for sure. Even though to get an opinion about a specific tire , Which Bridgestone are you talking about? They make many different models that I've had good and bad luck with. Continental are decent as well.. I would just stay away from the Pirelli.

I would recommend going with a non Run flat tire, investing in road side assistance and purchasing a full size spare for when needed on a long trip. The benefits of a non run flat tire always out weight the slight chance of a run flat actually doing its intended job.

I work at a tire store where all we do is tires by the way

I think the Bridgestone was an RE050 or something?

ASS is working again. Not sure what that was all about, but it's been fine today. Cheers guys.

Pirrelli

supposedly last longer than the bridgestones. up to 15% longer.
thats based on the reviews i got when looking for tyres here in the UK.

plus check yourself on tread wear. My dealer told me i was needing rear tyres 4000 miles ago and the fitter told me I still had at least 500 miles left on them when they were changed last week.
