Start/Stop Button

Ok, so who's car's Start/Stop button has already worn? The words printed on my car's button have smeared. No. I don't use abrasive cleaners, nor do i scrub the buttons nor do have I EVER given my car to a conventional car wash to clean, nor do I have grubby hands when I drive.

Let's just discuss the button (or any other dash component, which has prematurely worn). Thanks
David

2 years and going stong, there's a hair line fracture looking thing across number 3 and 4 just below the the command screen. on a completely unrelated note my driver side electric window only works in increments lately.. any ideas ?

That's a trip to the dealer to get the window sensor recalibrated. Easy fix.

Could be it just needs to have its limits reset. I had this on an Audi, several Subaru's and recently with my 335i after battery disconnects. You drop the window all the way in one move, then raise it all the way in one move. Might need to repeat.

The 335i was trucked from Adelaide to Sydney when I moved here last month and at one point along the way its battery was disconnected.

Oh, and no apparent wear on the start/stop button but it's only a few months old. My A5 with the aluminium laser cut start/stop button slashed my finger open once when the aluminium started to de-laminate (a common problem apparently) so fading lettering is nicer and involves less gratuitous bleeding.

Lol James.

With respect to the stop start, it's not actually lettering, doesn't your illuminate David? I was under the impression it was impossible to fade as it's just a clearer layer in the plastic?

Mine's still fine, no signs of any wear. You could order a replacement button, quite a few on Ebay or maybe order one through a BMW dealer or BMW parts reseller.

There would be no reason a warranty claim is rejected on a fading part. No need for eBay purchases yet!

This should be replaced under your Motorplan, have you tried the SA?

Oh, I intend on having the button replaced under warranty next time I have to take my car for service, whenever that will be. Probably at year 2 inspection.

I just wanted to know if it's an issue BMW may be familiar with.

No, not fade. Smear. The letters have smeared.

Ok, well thats pretty crappy.. We must of got our F30's around the same time. Mine is around 20 months aswell. Although in saying that, I have just on 20,000 on mine thanks to the continual back and forth 1200k round trips to my dealer last year with all the steering column issues..
BUT, my interior is all as new as including the buttons. Would have to be a warranty job I suspect.
