Aftermarket clutch.
Has anyone been able to find an aftermarket clutch for an f30 328i? Mine went out at 15k miles on me, and given that it's highly unlikey the warranty will cover it, I'm seeking other options. So far I haven't found much. Anyone got any info?

Will you be DIYing it? ECS has OE kits for about $350.
Can you do me (and the community) a solid - when you or your mechanic go in there, can you measure the throw of the slave cylinder? Not to derail your thread, but I am dying to know if the E90 335i slave cylinder can be swapped in to remove any delay valving. See my post here for a better idea of what I'm talking about. |

Bringing up an old thread but I am in the same boat as OP, clutch went out at little over 30K. This is a wear and tear item so not covered under warranty.
I know Clutch Masters released their single mass flywheel and clutch kits. But are there others? The stock Dual mass flywheel is ridiculous priced at over 1K and the stock clutch at $800! Is there any other alternatives? |

Anyway, I was curious what my options would be once the time came for a replacement and I saw clutchmasters' offering. Right off the bat, it is cheaper than OE so I am already leaning that way. Further, the single mass flywheel is 16lbs vs 31... That should make a very noticeable improvement/reduction of rev hang, which is exactly why I went looking for a single mass option in the first place.

OK so here is a issue I have with Single mass unites. The flywheels are very light and with every single mass i ever ran on any car the clutch chatter is very loud. Most in the N55 and older n54 board even regret doing it and switched back to the DUAL mass while some increased the idle to 1K to stop the chatter.

In my search I have found the following specs from Sachs website for our clutch kit:
Flywheel Diameter [mm]: 240 - Number of Teeth: 22 - Hub Profile: 26,5x29-22N Clutch Disk: [mm]: 228 - Number of Teeth: 22 - Hub Profile: 26,5x29-22N Trans code: 6 speed Standard RWD (S6-17BG) I spent days looking up all the info and matching part numbers from both generations and all confirms that if you use the F30 flywheel and E90 clutch it will be a direct fit as all the specs match up. I will be ordering a new setup soon from ECS with the Southbend stage 2 clutch kit and Oem F30 flywheel. Will chime in here when I get started on the swap in about a month or 2 as I need to find time. Hoping all will match up and work. AS that will be a great alternative and give us some proven options to use for more power. As for the slave cylinder and CDV just drill out the opening where the hard line connects and you will pull the metal restrictor plate out. Take out the o rings/washers and reinstall the hard line and you have a CDV delete :-) Last edited by D041987; 06-21-2019 at 01:57 AM.. |
