Just bought my first bmw. A 335i
New BMW owner here.
Just traded in my 2010 mustang gt for a CPO 2013 335i msport coupe 6 speed. Wow, what a difference. The mustang had power, but rode like shit. I cant believe how wonderful the clutch and stick is on the 335i. The shifter is solid, but feels like its gliding on air. Much easier to use than the mustang. Visibility is better. The 2 hour drive home was just amazing. Was night and day compared to the 2 hour journey there in the mustang. One thing that sucks is the bmw has BT phone but not Audio. Guess i have to get some BT to aux adapter for inside the armrest. Other than that a very happy camper and glad i finally made the switch! |

Congrats! Pictures or it didn't happen!
Also the 2013 335i coupe is an e92...this is the F3x side of the forums...you will be better off over on the e92 board for more information although a ton of people over here had the E9x platform at some point... http://www.e90post.com/forums/index.php

See! shows how much i know. I was getting conflicting reports on what this is because the front end doesnt look very e9x but i will def take you word for it. Pics were too large but just reduced resolution.

Nice...yep definitely e92...love the LeMans Blue also...close to the Montego blue on my e90. I am sure it is fun going through the gears! I miss a MT in a BMW...
Oh and welcome to the board!

Easiest way to tell at a glance is the headlights. E90 headlights don't come in to touch the grilles like the F30 headlights do.

BTW, congrats - it's beautiful and a great driver too. That is one hell of a BMW to start with. Nice choice. Enjoy!

In regards to it being my first, i wasnt about to go down in power or speed from the mustang gt so it had to be just as fast. I was thinking M3 but no way i could find a low mileage CPO for under 30k like the 335i and then theres the insurance and maintenance. I test drove a golf r, audi a5, newer mustang gt, m235i and a few other manuals but none made me feel like trading in my GT (which by the way has been totally reliable and something i felt confident working on myself). This is the first car that ive gotten behind and felt like i was able to let go of the mustang. |

You will really like this car. BTW, E90 vs F30 is confusing with the coupe because it switches body style after the main seller - the sedan - does.

congrats! how's life without the V8 sound? (grass is always greener... I would like a sound upgrade from turbo I6 with stock exhaust to V8 with headers and glasspack mufflers sometimes)

Yeah the sound in the 2010 v8 was nice, much better than the new 5.0s imo. Do I miss the sound? A little bit, but I don't miss my fiance getting sick just driving down the highway. Also the stang seemed like it would make More noise than speed it was producing. Compared to the golf r, the v6 seems like a good compromise. I'm sure some mods could bring out the sound in the 335i. Also the other night while giving it some gas I heard the turbo noise so that was neat. Never heard that before
