Yeah I'd tend to agree, the waterless wash solutions should technically be much better for cleaning off bird crap or something else that requires immediate removal.
Due to this thread I just ordered waterless car wash from Amazon. That will now be in my trunk. Ha! Thanks guys!
Yeah, I keep ONR in the trunk too. In a diluted mixture in a spray bottle. As per my post above though, I just pretty much gave up because I would be out there like 3 times a day trying to wipe the grime of NYC off the car and I started to lose my mind. That said, ONR is the shit.

Interesting product but seems expensive. $7 for 10 wipes that you probably use once and toss. Also looks like the wipe has no nap so you'd be rubbing all the dirt and grime into the paint. Compare that to a 8oz bottle of ONR you can make a whole gallon of QD spray.

Yes they are one time use, but fortunately I haven't had to use them that often, the last box lasted me over a year. Just recently picked up another box on sale for $4.99.

Meguiars. I've been using their detail spray, so I'm sticking with them.

Megs makes a professional detailers line that come in gallon concentrate sizes. Pretty much same stuff as the consumer "Ultimate" line but cheaper per ounce of you're interested. I tend to buy detail stuff in bulk now.

I learned to the hard way - acidic bird shit damaged my clear coat and my only option is a repaint/clear job. I've accepted it but now I keep spray in the car to prevent any further damage (((((

A really good coat of wax will buy you more time too.

I learned my lesson after bird crap marred my finish on my hood due to me being a bit lazy and leaving it there for a day. Luckily the clear coat was etched all the way though, but I did have to get someone to use a buffing compound to get rid of the marks. Ugh.

Now I keep a diluted bottle of ONR with MF towels like a lot of other people who responded in this thread. A rinse less wash like ONR is great for what we are talking about and better than regular quick detail spray due to it being "slicker".

I disagree. I used to feel the same way as you do. A waterless wash spray such as UWW, ONR, or CG Eco Wash, has more than enough lubrication that it won't harm the paint when used with proper wiping technique. The key is to always use a clean towel, and wipe only in one direction (no circular buffing).

I've washed my car using CG Eco wash, and the paint was mint so swirls. Actually my detailer (trained professional) uses UWW when doing quick washes on his customers cars.

I personally keep a small spray bottle and some microfibre towels to wipe away bird droppings, and water spots.

My girlfriend's mom's Q5 has a bunch of bird droppings on it, so I decided to wipe it away. Unfortunately, it has already etched into the paint.

I recently bought an industrial spray bottle and the pressure is enough to kick the bird poop off without using microfiber to wipe down

I can see different levels of what the general public will call swirls and marring. As a detailer, my belief is every time you touch or work with your paint, you can introduce defects.

An inspection before and after wipe downs is non-existent in most cases and it will be hard to determine the level of defect applied to each wipe down, even with proper products that could lubricate the wipe down.

I have Black Sapphire Metallic, the moment you touch or drag your clean finger on the clean paint, it induces defects.
