don't forget for 328i we get 4cyl instead of inline6. cheaper to make. If I correctly remember, Audi dropped the price when they went to 2.0T in A5. even though the performance was about the same and compatibly equipped with V6 version.

The things I am interested in:
* 4-pot calipers on 335i M-sport * Black side mirror caps I really hope those can be swapped on to my E90. Everything else they can keep.

For me to get the 328 I would want, I would have to pay $3600 extra for the Premium Package, then another $900 for Xenon headlights.
So Xenons would end up costing me about $3,350 (considering the $1,050 for the sunroof I would want). I am okay with black leatherette and non-power seats in the Sport Line car. So I am hoping the non-Xenons don't make the 328 for me look like the cheaped out version. P.S. I also don't want blacked out mirrors. Cheap cars have black mirrors vs. painted ones.

I dont need sunroof(never use it) dont need power seats i am getting the leather for $1450 so i skipped on premium and xenons. I hope bmw does something regarding a cool day light look(audi non led have a single bulb) But whatever, the true enjoyment comes from behind the wheel, and as long as i have my main needs(sport) everything will be fine. The black mirrors might look tacky on a light color car. I am getting mineral grey, which is kind of dark so i dont think i will have an issue, but i agree, color mirrors should be standard.

I must be missing something, but the first post refers to "significant" added features - but I am comparing the 335 base package to what I have, and I don't seem to see any changes, so what justifies this higher price?

A 328 with sport will be an interesting lightweight, inexpensive choice. No power seats, no sunroof, but no xenons unless you pay a ton.
The M-sport versions 328/335 will be great. w/ brakes. Glad I made such a fuss in the BMW surveys for having brake upgrade option. Ditto for adaptive suspension, awesome for DD.

Standard equipment (for both 328i and 335i) now includes: 6.5" display with iDrive controller, bluetooth, USB/iPoD interface, 8 speed automatic transmission, automatic start/stop, dynamic driving control modes, brake energy regeneration, and 1" standard wheel size increase.

Gonna pass on the steering and adaptive suspension. Xenons are nice but not worth an additional 3K. Be cheaper to buy them an install them myself lol...car should handle great. Really looking forward to ordering it. Still blowing my mind i have no option of larger or staggered rim choice.

The price of the Premium Sound Package listed above is $1350 whereas it's listed at $950 at the beginning of the thread. Anyone know which is right?

From a glance, it seems like the 335i pricing is quite reasonable.
However, it seems that despite the rather modest increase in base price, the pricing for the 328i has gone up a good bit. Of course the standard equipment level has gone up, but really the only things that are significant are the iDrive, and the Bluetooth. The former to me is meaningless as I never get enough gadgets to warrant such a complication in control, although the latter is something that really should've come standard in the E90 as well. Beyond that though, the sports package price has gone up by $500 despite being basically the same package. The xenon only comes with the premium package, which is a real bummer since most people want it for practical and cosmetic reasons. And of course, the value package including leather had been standard for E90 for a while, with no restriction on the leather color choice that allowed me to get M sport with saddle brown (which I think looks very nice with LeMans Blue). So as others have said already, if you don't need leather and if you don't need xenon, then a 328i with just the sports package is only up by $800. But if you want leather, that's $800+$1450=$2250 more. If you really must have the xenon, then you have to shell out $3600 for the ZPP, although that includes leather and for some ZPP will be a no brainer anyway for other reasons. All in all, it's nothing unexpected given that the car is all new, and in case of the 328i, with a significant improvement in objective performance and efficiency. Besides, the N20 is probably more costly to build than the N52 anyway. But that iDrive screen isn't free I don't think. |

What made you decide to go with the m suspension? I am considering it as well as the steering.

I guess the 7500 premium price for the 335i is somewhat tempered by the lower cost of packages and more std equipment...
b/c i certainly don't think 7500 justifies the diff between n20 and n55
