ODB Port Plug-in Tune?

Is there a tune out there that you can simply plug into the ODB Port? Kind of like those old game system with cartridges. I thought there was but I haven't seen one. I guess tuning the car via the ODB Port isn't possible? Be super convenient if there was.

I am not aware of any OBD based flash tune for the F-series N55. They exist for the E-series (COBB, etc.) but haven't seen anything on the F.

Mike, do you know what technical challenges stand in the way for making such a tune? Years ago the things we can do esys today were impossible. Now so doable.

Not to mention the flash counter now as standard 'equipment' on the cars........

BMW has stepped up their ECU encoding making it difficult to gain full access to the ECU via flash. Only options currently I know of on the F-series is to physically remove the ECU from the car, drill into it to access a part of it and bench flash it.

If you are looking to be incognito and avoid a fight on your hands if something were to blow up, you do not want to flash the new ECUs through the OBD2 port as Dave said because there is a ECU flash counter through that port. If the flashes don't match BMWs records, they will know immediately that the electronics were tampered with.

The old days of tuning the ECU by OBD are gone
Cobb gave up, Dinan and AA are now selling piggys, all the other tuners require you to send your ECU to them in order to flash it.
One day it might be possible, but it does not sound that day is anytime soon

It will get cracked eventually I think but just might be a while (long while). Its already be a few years with the F-series and no hints of an OBD based flash.

The biggest tell is that Dinan went piggyback after years of saying piggybacks were sub-optimal.
