New car day

Wife and I decided it was time to get back into a MX5.
Managed to grab one of the last 2.0 Homora’s coming into the country and Carwow actually sorted a decent discount. The supplying dealer was also great to deal with.
Just had a short drive and it’s a breath of fresh air (literally) compared with modern dull boxes on wheels. On a dry day there will be a fight for the keys.
The Humora comes with LSD, Bilstein Suspension, Brembo brake upgrade, BBS light weight alloys and lovely white Nappa leather.
The Soul Crystal Red that Mazda do is such a great colour.
So our 2 car garage is a 110 Defender and a MX5. The yin and yang of motoring life.

Very nice

I've never driven an MX5 but I also know that it would be high on the list for a weekend car.

Yep like that a lot!

Nearly got an MX5 a couple of years ago (the wife has always wanted one). Ended up getting a Z4 (E89) instead. I think the MX5 would have been a better choice TBH.

Having had three Mazdas (two 6s and a current 3), they are great cars in general.

Not quite that bad, but I am an elderly man....

One of my colleagues has a McLaren 650s and he says he hasnt mastered getting out of it whilst looking cool yet....

I think I'll stick to more saloon based verts so I can get out more casually!

Its not the length of the skirt, as you will well know, but the flexibility in the old bones! Nothing worse than seeing an oldie struggle to get out of his low, sporty car.... as your kids tell me!

I’ve got a Touring. The kids load me through the boot on a stretcher.

I just sold my 09 MX5 a couple of month back - as a 2seater it was simply ace, but i needed 4seats.

Enjoy your new car, in what is IMO the best colour of any car on the market.....simply beautiful.

Got to love a convertible and its in a fabulous colour, lovely car.

I always wanted an MX5 but found the windscreen to be too low.

I really would like an F type but they hold their value pretty well, they are a bit loud, and I'm not sure 2 seats would be much use - even if only for luggage space in the back if you go on a touring holiday...

So been looking at 4 seaters and may possibly have looked at a V8 M3....amongst a million others! I think I want more cruiser than racer though...

M3 V8 is certainly a GT car as opposed to a boy racer / hot hatch. Only thing i would say is that DCT is a bit getting used to compared to a modern 'box like in the RS4 or the ZF8 in BMW. The newer stuff is so much slicker, though less of a difference if you use the paddles.

One of the reasons for selling the GR Yaris was its lack of "event" driving sedately. Happy to report thats not an issue in the M3 (for me).

Hi Mr Burt how is the MX5 going?

I must admit we are very tempted to swap the Mrs car to the Homura RF. same colour way Soul Crystal Red. RF this time as the house has a lot of trees and tree sap I don’t want to be cleaning the hood all the time. This or the JCW manual are the cars I miss most, I’ve almost got it sold internally, fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I’ve also run some figures on CWoW and 10% has come back on the first day. Interesting.
