Seating Position
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I'm 6'1 and I cant seem to find a position where my arms don't feel like they're totally straight, but my right knee doesnt hit the center console/lower dash and where I can still see all of the speedometer and all of the trip/odometer/nav instruction screen. I haven't yet tried extending the steering wheel all the way out and moving the chair back but that might be the solution. Ideally, I want to find one seat postiion that lets me sit with my arms bent enough to control the wheel if I feel like drivign aggressively, but also be able to slouch down and slide my butt forward on longer drives without me knee hitting the dash. This morning I tried moving the seat down all the way but it's a weird position and doesnt feel natural. The funny thing is that during my entire ED, I never had an issue with my knee hitting the dash and we did some 7 hour drives over there. I guess now that it's back to the mundane everyday drive, the little things become more noticeable. |

Strange, dude. I'm 6'3" and sit very comfortably ('10 335 coupe though). Def play with the settings for the seat, the steering wheel, etc. I do see how the knee hits the dash, however, I actually place my knee purposely against the dash to balance myself and let my leg remain in a relaxed state. I think you'll find that sweet spot dude, just spend some time inside playing around. Good luck!

When instructing I note many students tip the seat back too far; the seat back position has them slouching. I suggest moving the seat more upright until you can extend your arms comfortably forward and rest your wrists on the top of the wheel. This is a good starting point for arm distance. If your head hits the headliner, move the seat down until it clears. |

I am at the opposite end at 5'7" and have had a terrible time getting the seating position right. I also have the same issue with the trip odometer reading, (much like the auto wiper light in the e90) - no matter how i have the wheel positioned, half or more of that bottom line is cut off...unless i have the steering wheel down in my lap.
I also find that when looking towards my passenger side blind spot the visibility isnt great.

6'0" and yeah, I can't get as comfy as I was in my E90.
When I get the seat where I want it, the steering wheel is in the wrong place (even when I adjust tilt/telescope). I didn't have lumbar support in my last car, and I will say that's a huge improvement. Side bolsters don't seem to "hug" as much as in the E90. First world problems I guess. Overall it's a terrific seat... just not quite as terrific as in E90. |

Had a couple off site meetings today and I played with the seat a bit. I think wheel out and chair back is good to address the knee issue, seatback more upright takes car of the arms. Pretty comfy for me. The wheel is noticeably extended but that doesnt bother me.
