Isn't the S4 Audi's answer to the M3? I would have thought the A4 would be the competitive comparison to the 335i.

Ah, I forgot about the S5. I'm thinking sedans and the S5 is only a coupe. When the A5 came out I looked at it as a "tweener" for the BMW 3-Series and 5-Series (and as a tweener or the A4 and A6).

The rs5 lines up with the M3.

Not sure it would've changed the reviewer's opinion, but the 335 was a sport with 225 all seasons on all 4 corners.
Agree, the s5 is a coupe version of the s4 but still no worthy competitor for the m3. Last edited by Kankles; 10-07-2012 at 10:52 AM.. |

negative sir, this comparison is apples to apples..
F30 328i - A4 E92 328i- A5 335i - S4 E92 335i - S5 E92 M3 - RS5 E90 M3 - RS4 528i - A6 you get it.. it does get sketchy because Audi sedan and coupes often have different engines on the S and RS models. but Audi higher models like playing peek-a-boo and are never really all out at the same time

this is, of course, supremely subjective, especially without really pushing the cars or any real track experience, which I have with both cars...I own an f30 335 m-sport and even in sport+ mode it isn't nearly as precise and engaging as the current S4 steering. Lots of that also has to do with the tires (stock to stock), but for the most part, the F30 is more than tolerable but still has that ever so slight initial electric-assist on touch-in. The S4 steering may feel a touch lighter but you feel the tires connectivity to the road so much better. It also feels more fluid in constant hard turns where the f30 steering feels strangely artificial in comparison. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the car so far, even considering how big and less-raw feeling it is than my e82. Anyhow, my 2 cents.

I totally agree about the tyres though. I've had Bridgestones, Pirellis and Vredestein on my Speed6 and they've all felt completely different in identical driving conditions. The Vreds being by far the best and, interestingly enough, the cheapest

can you imagine if Audi offered the S4 with rear wheel drive which would be lighter? As far as BMW goes they need to seriously overhaul that engine, I drove it and it sucks big time compared to my 328i, the 335i makes alot of noise when you floor the gas pedal without much to show in way of get up and go unlike the 328i which rockets

+1! The 335 didn't hesitate off the line like the 328 did when I test drove it.
