Surely DS is redundant...
On the Automatic Transmission cars, there has been a DS option for a while, as there is on most auto cars.
So moving the lever to the side to activate DS does the following: Sharpens throttle response Goes into a gear lower Goes closer to the redline Please add/remove/amend the above! Putting the car into Sport mode also does all of the above, plus more, so what is the point in DS? Thanks!

Moving the lever to the left, regardless of transmittion puts you is DS
DS is JUST for the transmittion. It changes shift points, shifts faster etc Sport mode changes the transmittion the same as DS, but also changes steering weight and throttle response. So DS is not redundant. You can keep the car in Comfort for light steering and throttle, but get quicker shifting and higher shift points. |

Also, doesn't DS sharpen throttle response?

I can confirm that DS doesn't sharpen throttle response. The shifts are ceratinly quicker in M, I don't know about DS as I don't use it, but I would believe they are...

DS also turns off start stop, so if im coming up to a junction where I know ill only stop for a split second i put the box in DS and once ive pulled away slip it back to the right.

In DS it does sharpen throttle response, shifts later and stays longer in the same gear (also if you do not stay on the throttle). It is in attack mode.

In DS if you use the paddle shifters it will stay in manual mode. In regular drive if you use the paddle shifters I believe it goes back to automatic after a certain number of seconds.

So if you put your car in DS, you don't have to shift correct? Just put it in DS and drive the car the way you would in D?

I like this idea. Saves reaching for the ASS button - i hit the start/stop engine button by mistake once!

I'm not using Sport mode at this time, so when I want a little bit more than Comfort offers, I push the lever to DS and go. Plus I show off to passengers about how the gear lever it flips back to its neutral position on its own from DS when I press Park.
Always gets a "wow" comment.

This thread is so out of date now. I posted this way before I got my car!! Can we let it die? All problems solved and some info not accurate and dated.
