How long?

Week 42 (next week) is build week for my F31...

Anyone have any idea what the normal timescale is from start of build to delivery to the dealer?

Diesels have priority at the moment on the production line.

Nah... this diesel thing with VW is a lot of political nonsense that when the VAG hand out "incentives" to the right politicians and a few quid to some customers, half of which probably haven't even heard what is going on, then the whole thing will get forgotten.

All the best,

So you had about 7 days for chassis to bodyshop, and then 2 days in the bodyshop and the rest of the time was distribution!

errr Yes... but it's been highly sensationalised by the media. Yes, VAG have been a bit naughty and they are paying for it (or will be paying for it for many years to come I think). That should be the end of it.

It's no more interesting than Chris Evans banging on about how he is going to run the new top gear on his own. I didn't think anyone could have a bigger ego than clarkson: but I was wrong.

A bit naughty.....

Stock price down by 40%

Ex CEO facing criminal investigation.

Class actions being filed all over US and now UK too. Other countries to follow.

VW sales in UK down 30% since scandal broke.

Analysts say cost to VW somewhere in the $15 - $25 billion range.

VW suspends all non critical investment.

Future of non core brands (eg Bugatti) now unclear.

Legislators all over the world now looking to NOx emissions, not CO2, which they are beginning to admit was a mistake.

Straight to the naughty step for VW (if there is one in jail....)

Couldn't happen to a nicer manufacturer. I hate my local VW garage, muppets. I realise they actually have close to zero to do with VAG but it's fun regardless.

Was Skoda involved? Basically using the same engines. I did test drive an octavia vrs but the interior just felt a bit cheap. Glad I didn't now.

Yes Skoda also involved. Not clear though whether the 170PS engine used in the VRS / GTD / FR etc are also affected.

Regardless will be a significant hit to brand equity across the VW Group in future whichever model people own.

As NTG said, this isn't blowing over any time soon. Is it going to bankrupt VW - no, but it will hurt them and the industry significantly in the next few years, probably longer

It should be noted that this only applied to diesel.....

Is it me, or do I get the barest hint that diesel is not your number one choice?

When deciding which model to order, my choices were a 330i sDrive M-Sport or a 320d xDrive Sport. The fact that 'er indoors is a midwife and she wanted me to keep at least one 4wd in the family swayed the decision that way.

My last petrol (and last BMW) was a 2.8 straight six Z3 from 1996. Children soon stopped that.

Garage List
2015 BMW 435d  [0.00]
2009 335i  [0.00]
September 2015 was a record year for car sales in the UK and half were diesel. Couple that with diesel being as cheaper than petrol in most garages, diesel cars aren't going nowhere. (VAG not included in that statement)

What could harm diesel sales is if the Government impose restrictions of extra taxes for driving them in inner cities.

It actually only took 40 hours to build it (29-30th), the rest of the time has been waiting for it to be built then distribution - It's still sat on the dock at Cuxhaven waiting to get on a ship

BMW have a real backlog issue re Cuxhaven to Southampton at the moment as more cars are arriving at Cuxhaven each week than they have spaces on the ship for the weekly crossing
