'Ow much?!

It's only c£15 for the Mann/Hengst/Mahle filter via Amazon or eBay and they're OE!

Bloody BMW tax haha

"I bought one so you don't have to"

I just wanted to compare it to the Mahle aftermarket one I bought last year and to be honest, if there is a difference, I couldn't spot it.

The N57 filter is double the price of N47's, so they're still in the £35-£40 region in the aftermarket.

Genuine BMW air filter for N57 is £49 on eBay.
Bosch or Mahle ones are around £30.

Indeed the BMW tax strikes again!

Mann filter here for less than £20; Mann are OE also:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354674279...BlBMUJCi7O3MYw

Only £14 if you use the discount that's live currently (worth ordering a few at that price)

Genuine BMW filter here for £21 with the discount added:

I’m talking about air filters. Those are oil filters which I already have (Mahle one).

Was going to tackle the oil & filter change today, but discovered I don’t have 27mm socket for the oil filter cap!
So have to postpone until tomorrow (ordered one from amazon).

Air filter done.
Just doing the oil change now.
Suction pump has taken out about 4 litres of old oil so far. That was an hour ago and and flow seems to be slowing right down now.
Is that normal?

Edit: gave it a few more pumps of the handle & it started drawing a bit faster.

Is the oil hot? That helps a lot... But yes. Keeping the pressure built up makes it quicker

Ran engine for about 10mins before drawing it out.
In hindsight, Should have really taken for a short run out.

Deffo; I generally drive for about 15-20mins before an oil change if I've not already been out in the car

For me that's just up a bit of national speed limit country lanes, back on myself, down the bypass and back home...

That's it hot enough then for an oil change; otherwise it's like trying to suck molasses through a drinking straw

Half hour minimum for me before doing the suction. Diesels take aaaaaaaages to warm up

Sometimes the suction tube can bottom out on the oil pan like a drinking straw does in a glass, which also restricts the flow. I push it in until I feel it bottom out, then pull it up a few mm.
