I'm leaving the bottom of the front lip in matte black and the 'diffuser/fins' part of the back in matte black. Everything else is going to be in body colour. Decals will go on matte black too. Even the side sills will be body colour.

I think this will look good and I've seen it on pictures which makes me think it's the way to go. You can get away with matte black on white/red but not so much on the darker colours... IMO of course.

Agree with that. I think it looks best on mine left in matte black. Although I've seen a mineral grey f30 with the kit in matte black in my local dealers showroom. That looked nice. Anyway good luck with it.

Ride hight

Hi guys, Im new to the forum and have just placed my order today for the 335D XDrive. Have to say i love the M performance with 405 20 inch wheels and have these on order too. I just wanted to ask how you find the ride as im around the hertfordshire/essex areas. Really worried the ride may be really harsh on the 20's.

Love the white with M performance extras and have to say that i noticed the gap between arch and tire seem to be less when you run 20's. Must be the imagination but a defo difference from the 19's or 18's when i saw the car in the show room.

Hi mate. To be honest I think the ride is ok, I'm use to firm suspension anyway. On a nice piece of Tarmac , it's quiet and smooth. Around town it's what you'd expect I think. I will change to non run flats purely for cost I think.
Welcome to the forum by the way. I've only been on a few months myself.

Nicked the picture from a thread by scotty01. (Hope you don't mind!)

I really like the look of the 405M alloys but thought against it as I can always change later if I curb these alloys or fancy a change at a later date. I've seen them on various websites for a very good price as well. I'll ride these out for a bit.
No worries mate, lovely wheels!
Your spec is amazing everything ticked and that engine will sound amazing. i'd already had my 335d order locked in as the 340i was announced. was so tempted to pull the plug on the 335d but decided to stick with it in the end. No regrets but part of me would have loved a 340i i must admit.

Gosh you formers have made me into an even bigger geek!!!

I know I'll be tracking the ship with my car in it when it gets transported but I WON'T be travelling to Southampton to try and see it being unloaded... lol

In preparation for the arrival of mine I've recently taken delivery of:
1 x Dr Leather Dye Block 250ml - Minimises Dye Transfer = £39.99
1 x Dr Leather Advanced Formula Leather Cleaner Spray - 1 Litre = £29.99
1 x Dr Leather Advanced Formula Cleaning Wipes - Tub of 150 = £22.99
1 x Valet PRO Leather and Soft Top Cleaning Brush = £9.95
2 x White Microfibre Cloths - Multi Purpose - Pack of 10

I seriously rate these guys at Elite Car Care, excellent website regarding account/ordering/tracking + super efficient and customer focused service
Thanks for the advice mate. I'm gonna get these ordered for my car. From the looks of it I'm thinking it's around £100 all in? I have microfibre cloths so I won't be getting those.

It'll probably take around 24 hours to build in total but today will be considered the build date.

Sorry mate only just seen this.

I thought I'd stock up with some white microfibres for the leather as all of mine are either bright red or blue (risk of dye transfer from the microfibre to the Opal White leather???? )

Excellent news mate

"5500 Assembly Complete" = VIN Tracker Production Date

It takes approx 40 hours (which could obviously span 3 working days) to complete production - "5100 Bodyshop Start" to "5500 Assembly Complete".

On that basis (and assuming BMW continue to produce UK 335d Tourings at last week's rate of 15 per day), mine should have already started production today and hopefully complete just before EOD tomorrow.

Fingers crossed

You may be right but are you sure? 335d JTD seems to suggest that production date = built. No UK 340i's were built on Friday or Saturday as all prior VINs were built on Thursday. This may just be me being hopeful though!

On that basis the car is then built? Any idea how long this will take to get to the port? I was going to check when the next car shipment is...

Good news on your build! Our cars may even be shipmates if the timings work out...

Fingers cross indeed!

The Dr Leather Dye Block is out of stock so I'll have to wait for it to get back in before I order...

Having just ordered myself a 340i, this seems a good place to check in and ask how you guys are tracking your orders so closely? Aside from the undurstandable excitement at the new motor arriving I am also about 1-2 months away from needing 4 new tyres and a full set of brake pads changing, so would like the new one to arrive before shelling of for that little lot!

Therefore tracking order status may help me to "pace" my driving!

To quote myself from another thread...

To be fair, I was basing that duration on my tour of Ryton when they were making Pug 206s, it's entirely possible a more larger, more complex car takes longer to build, but manufacturing tech has also moved on. I kinda plucked the figure out of the air in hindsight

Got to 9605 - Pre EU Port of Exit. However the expected week has shifted from 42 to 43 so not sure if that's due to a backlog of cars at the port...

Hey mate - Excellent news regarding "9605 - Pre EU Port of Exit".

I’ve been regularly checking the Southampton shipping schedule over the last few days (shows arrivals up to Oct 8th at the moment) and have been rather concerned with the lack of suitable ships appearing.

http://www.southamptonvts.co.uk/Live...ned_Movements/

I have some good news though, I‘ve just refreshed the page and both Asian Breeze and Arabian Breeze have just appeared (scheduled to arrive within a day of each other which is very unusual) – The main two ships that BMW & UECC Shipping use from Cuxhaven into Southampton!

If there is a backlog issue BMW/UECC have now dispatched the cavalry!

+ Both ship trackers here:

Hopefully mine will be on one of them as well.

Thanks for the info Joe, what status is your car at the moment?

Sounds like the next shipment is the 6th and 7th of next week then? What's the shipping time to Southampton?

I was still "9000 Departed Plant" first thing this morning so expecting to go "9605 - Pre EU Port of Exit" later today or tomorrow as it usually only takes a couple of days to get from the factory to the docks.

Those are the arrival dates into Southampton + The crossing will only take a day as they are both coming directly from Cuxhaven with no stops on the way.
