Car colors

Why cant car manufacturers be like home depot, where you bring the paint color and they create it ? I really wish they would do this with cars, if i wont a green car i should get it for $500-$1000 not few thousand, and call it individual, they are really taking advantage of us customers

It is all about economies of scale. It must be quite time consuming changing over the paint for the spray booth and all the robotic spraying machinery for a one off colour.
