Hp more on a n20 or less on a n26?

I have a 2012 n20 and in my manuel it says 245hp but in the website it says 240hp. Does any one know if they took out 5hp to the n26?

Its converted values from other markets. All us cars are RATED by BMW at 240hp and N26 and N20 make no difference.

when you put them on a dyno they probably get 270hp at the crank... 245hp is still underrated for the 28i

There is much info on BMWs site that is off/reused from other markets that are not a direct fit for NA.

Maybe it's like the GTR, handmade, so no motor is the same

I think by 240 they mean 240 at the crank. The 328i runs like 225 at the wheels something like that stock

Most dyno runs of stock 328s are around 235 at the wheels. Factoring in traditional drivetrain losses of 12-15%. BMW seriously underrates the car. 265-270 at the crank is realistic.

It depends on the dyno.

Mine did 213whp on a SuperFLO load bearing dyno which would have been an easy 235-240whp on a Dynojet.

I agree with you that it depends on the Dyno.
Mine was a Dyno Jet.
That goes to show what any dyno figure without baseline might not be very relevant.

No, it means shell out $50-100 and get your car dyno'd to know the exact figure.

The general consensus is the 240 crank rating is low and 260-270 is more accurate according to the average of the 20-30 dynos that have been posted.
