Michelin Pilot Sport 4S finally available for our 400m wheels!

Just a heads up to all of my fellow BMW F30 drivers - the excellent Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (Michelin PSS replacements) are finally available in the goofy 225/45/18 front and 255/40/18 sizes on our MSport cars. Even better, the price is no more than the old Pilot Super Sports in those sizes.

Looks like they have 235/45-18 now too. That's a better match for the 8" wide wheels over the 225.

I'm pretty surprised at how narrow the tread width is on the 225/45-18 (7.3") and 235/45-18 (7.6"). The 245/40-18 is 8.4". That's quite a difference between the 235 and 245.

It seems that 245-45-18 fit 8" wheels too. I would go with this taller setup to correct the speedometer error. On my 340 it 2 miles per our overoptimistic.

265/40/18 is 20mm oversize on 18x8.5 and will be bulging a lot. the widest you should put on the 400M 18x8.5 rear wheel is 255/40/18.

Thank you. Will have to stick to the 255.

I have since moved to a square 18x8.5 or 255/40/18 setup.

The price difference between a PSS and P4S is pretty substantial.

PSS - $169/tire
P4S - $245/tire

I think I'm going to hold off on the P4S this time around.
