better ride quality
I have a 2014 xdrive 320i sport package, 78000km on it.. andddddddd, I hate the ride quality ... is there a fix for getting a better ride for our cars without lowering the car???? I am hoping to fix it for around 1000 bucks or less. I feel every pothole, bump in the road, corners have way to much body roll, and I don't have a lot of comfidence speeding up out of the on ramp getting onto the freeways, oem tires 225/45/18 rft. first thing iam going to due is change rubber on all corners to sumitomo htr zlll 225/40/18 front, and 255/40/18 rear, on vmr 710 - 8.5/ 35et. rims.... what to due next, i have no idea.. someone with more experience with suspension will have to be my Yoda... lol

Time for a shock absorber rebuild i think... these are not supposed to last longer than 80000km.
Otherwise the recommended option if you feel an upgrade is needed would be the m performance suspension, but not sure they have it for xdrive.

He hasn't provided any info that would imply the shocks are damaged. OP, good chance your springs are too soft for your expectations. Sway bars will reduce body roll, where as stiffer springs will improve all-around handling. Mind you, stiffer springs will further aggravate your sensitivity to rough road surfaces. A softer suspension setup will improve comfort. |

Think the best upgrade is to go down a tire size to 17s and go with non-RFT.
Sounds like you want a softer ride and less body roll.

if you can afford to spend more on tires, the best comfort will come from ultra high performance all seasons. since you are trying not to break the bank, continental extremecontact dws06.
if you prefer a summer tire, continental extreme contact sport, or pirelli pzero nero gt or pzero (pz4) the front should tire size should remain at 225/45/18. you could also increase front size to 235/45 or 245/40 on 8" EDIT1. since you're xdrive it'd be better to run a square set up. 18x8.5 with 235/45/18 or 245/40/18 square EDIT2. this is what i'd get based on your car and what you want...VMR with 235/45/18 sumitomo HTR A/S P02 square for strut/shock replacement...bilstein b6 or possibly koni orange or yellow, not sure of part number upgraded sways and front strut tower brace if you have extra Last edited by alohasurftoad; 10-24-2017 at 02:00 PM.. |

budget is going up to 3k Canadian, less tires.... got a great deal on BRIDGESTONE RE 760 from Costco, 225/45/18 front and 255/40/18 rear. so now its just shocks and springs to buy.... ZERO LOWERING.... I just want to drive and my car soak up all the road nuances, and a lot less body roll.. that new 5 series is night and day from the f30 on same roads when going for a test ride... trying to assimilate that kind of ride quality..

It?s a bar with an electric motor in the middle that controls the torsion torque depending on the steering angle: if you?re turning it will stiffen, reducing roll, but if you?re going straight it will loosen, letting each wheel absorb shocks without much transfer to the opposite side, making the ride more comfortable and more stable.

just spoke with Bilstein Canada and they suggested the b4 OE replacement 22-238276. left and right front, and b4 OE replacent 19-220093 left and right... Any one done this set up and can give me some real life input? I think for 800 bucks its the way to go...
