Well I have a nice toasty butt and toasty hands (as I went for the heated wheel too)

Then again, I don't have DAB, mobile apps or adaptive suspension - all of which I would probably have liked in hindsight

As I was holding the cold steering wheel of the Kia this morning I did think should I have ordered a heated steering wheel.

It was hard to think about heated seats and wheel back in the summer when I ordered!

It's difficult choosing all the options isn't it. Personally I don't think you're missing much from DAB unless you listen to e.g. 6 Music or a digital-only station; I've found the sound quality to actually be worse than a good FM signal in my last BMW which had the DAB, not to mention it dips out a lot, and when it does, it doesn't revert to FM!

Mobile apps: I removed this at the last minute (with a couple of other bits, to 'make way' for the HUD!). I figured at the moment (and it's been like this for a while), there's hardly any apps available, particularly in the UK where we don't have Pandora etc. (and even if we did, phone data connection would be a problem). It will likely be a while before any decent apps come out (if ever), and it can be retrofitted if you want at a later date, if things change (albeit for ~£450 which is a lot for what it does, but at least it is possible).

Adaptive suspension is the only one of the 3 I would agree on; though saying that, the 330d I test drove with the normal passive M Sport suspension, was still much better than my 335d etc., the ride and suspension is still much better on the F30 than it ever has been, IMO!

The only option I didn't choose (but that I hesitated on) was adaptive suspension. That said, having come out of a 6-year old 130i (with associated 1st-gen runflats) the experience from the M-Sport suspension on the new car is positively limousine-like!

As someone who had a nice toasty behind on the early morning commute I for one am glad I went with the heated seats I may be a bit weird though as I prefer the feel of the cold leather steering wheel.

The only options I was unsure of adding or not and in the end didn't were the Internet and Speed Limit display. Both of which were completely pointless luxuries and I can honestly say I'm glad I left them off as I can't imagine I'd have had any use out of either of them.

I'm more than happy with the car I have and wouldn't have changed anything. Mind you that may be because I hit the options list pretty hard to begin with

I would expect speed limit display to be standard in combo with HUD

Ordered £5225 of extras. Ridiculous. But all very useful especially the Adaptive M Sport Suspension. Not too sure about DAB. At least F & R Park Distance Control is standard on the M Sport. Small mercies.

Unless you turn on the car and give it time to heat up, your buttocks end up warming the leather in any case so grit your teeth and think of warm things.......like what your going to spend the £300 you saved on

I think he's talking about Speed Limit Info 8TH which uses a camera to read the speed signs, and display in the HUD.

Yeah I know, I ordered speed limit myself, but would think it best option in conjunction with HUD. If you are going to have speed display on your screen may as well have speed limit next to it....No?

The speed limit info is displayed in both the HUD and instrument cluster.

Did you spec speed limit display or ignore it passing the Gatso?

Thought you bought a five seater? Rear seat heating is very generous gift to passengers and I can count on one hand number of times my back seat will be occupied in Winter from a cold start.
Pair of gloves for £20 if you suffer cold extremities, even dealer put me off the heated steering wheel and that is saying something.

That's how I see it, having the speed and speed limit in front of me in the HUD is exactly how I like it. It is immediate and easy to compare, as they are side by side.

Slightly off the topic but I wish wing mirrors folded automatically on locking and unfolded when unlocked, Peugeot mastered it years ago!

The HUD was the one thing I really wanted but didn't get. Next car ... next car ...

You have an awesome car so I don't think you'll miss it if you've never had it. I went through 3 spec revisions when I ordered my car, just adding bits here and there. In the back of my mind I knew I wanted the HUD but just classed it as a luxury and couldn't justify the cost, so I always left it off and just didn't think about it again.

But I finally caved in and realised I actually really wanted it, ever since I saw the story on Engadget that the 'new 3 Series' will have a full colour HUD, over a year ago ! Thankfully I managed to squeeze it onto the spec at the very last minute (did it on Monday), car went into Confirmed by Production Control on Tuesday (no spec changed possible), so I was lucky.

But everyone says you don't think you need it until you've had it. So as you don't have it, you won't miss it as much

Yeah my old man's got it on his 530GT and says it's now his "must have" option on his next car. Seems most people have the same reaction. I just couldn't get it in the spec and price. I blew my budget already
