Er, Consett! It's in North West Durham and is about 900 feet up.
We're used to the cold. The real problem is when it drops to -114°C, the temp that alcohol freezes - as that's when the pubs need to close. |

In all fairness, we had a few days sunshine last August. Sadly it was raining intermittently those days ... |

Yeah that's spring in Consett.
I don't actually think they get any seasons in Stanhope or Tow Law It's where Xdrive or winter tyres were invented. Even the horses have winter rubber on Last edited by ....,,,,..,,..; 03-13-2015 at 07:05 AM.. Reason: Bloody self correcting spell checkers.. |

What a change(see below). Great picture. On Tuesday last, I took some southern friends on A68 Newcastle, Corbridge, Castleside, Tow Law to Barnard Castle (Bowes Museum). A glorious sunny drive ending via Upper Teesdale and Weardale on return. I believe A68 was impassible at Kiln Pit Hill this morning. Still if we have the scenery, we must have the snow to go with it! TT PS I've just looked hard at the lower footprints in your pic and they are 18 inches long - do you have some YETI specimens in good old consett. Last edited by Tom Tallon; 03-13-2015 at 12:35 PM.. Gorgeous Carol on radio 2 this am said some parts of the UK would have serious snow.

Often in Consett, Stanhope & Tow Law for work - this isn't unusual, that's the main reason for my winter tyres, saved my bacon a few times!

Never used winter tyres.....that's why I've got xdrive .....although I remember going along the A69 to work in a E90 when the outside lane disappeared under about 6 inches of snow just past Heddon on the wall...the car was all over the place....that's when I drove with 3 bags of sand in the boot for about 2 months.
