Door Mirror Caps

How likely is it to swap the black mirror caps (of the Sport Line) for painted mirror caps, without a major overhaul or taking the door apart?

I like the Sport Line, but don't like the black mirror caps :-(

So E90Fleet, do you think the door has to come apart or are their external fasteners somewhere under the mirrors? I'd be afraid of takling apart the door or window section for fear of screwing up its weatherproof sealants. In other words, I wouldn't want to do the swap and then contend with years of a leaky door/window when it rains because I made a mistake. Just wondering if this is a simple DIY task or I have to have a professional do it.

I havent seen the F30 instructions yet, but usually one can just pop out the mirror glass and then get access to the fasteners at the back of the mirror cap.

Then just unscrew the fasteners, replace the cap, refasten and insert the glass again

No touching the doors at all

Only thing is to be careful when popping out the mirror glass so you dont crack it

When I was configuring a F30 320d Sport on BMW UK you could select between the black wing mirror housings or colour matching them with the rest of the vehicle.

E90fleet, cool, thanks a bunch.

Sparks58, I wish we had that option here in the USA.
