Tires Losing Traction

Right now I have 403m rims with pilot sport a/s 3+ 225/40 in the front and 255/35 in the rear. I am currently running stage 1 BM3 on my 2014 335i, but plan on going stage 2 once I install a downpipe, and I already lose a lot of traction when doing 0-60s. Will pilot 4s’s with my stock rims be able to handle stage 2 without losing traction when doing a 0-60, or do I need to get wider rims and tires.

4s would help, but sounds like you need a driver mod.

It’s an automatic.. I put my foot down, that’s all. Thanks for the needless remark though.

Are the tires warm and still losing traction? Maybe go for a higher performance tire.

Cant answer on 4s as I never had a set (and only have a measly stock 320 )

Get a 2nd pair of rear 403m or daily your rear with yokohama advan 052, if that's not feasible.

If you go wider i suggest MPS4S in 245/35/19 & 285/35/19 or 245/40/19 & 275/35/19 on rims of appropriate widths and offsets for each setup.

I can hook 255/35/19 PS4S from a dig with MHD stage 2+ E20 map and FBO (+more) mods on 2015 335i. So long as i am on a clean, dry road and the road/tires are not cold, i will have little to no spin. If i do spin it will only be very briefly and they will grip by the top of 1st. Generally speaking, getting stickier tires is more important than just going wider. AS 3+ are a great all around tire (have them on mazda 6), but arent on the same level as a UHP summer like the PS4S. Note, this is without LC, as engaging LC usually just means spinning more. No LSD.

Usually stickier tires will do the trick. PS4S or any equivalent tires should be sticky enough to help get the power down. Wider doesn't always mean better.

Thanks for the replys. I think I’ll just change the tires since rims are not in my budget yet anyways. I am thinking of going ps4s 245/35 in the front and 255/35 in the back. I know 225/40 is the stock setup for the front, but I heard that running 245/35 can be better for the front to prevent understeer. What do you guys think are the ideal sizes?

PS4S are best practical tires I've used on the street and occasionally on track. Sticky, last well(on the street). On stock rims, tire size upgrades are limited. 245/35/19 on front and 265/35/19 in rear is really pushing it. I would ask around to see if places will install those sizes on your stock rim-specs first. Longtime back, I was planning on using those sizes on stock rims w/AS3 but I never tested it.
