Reverse LED Bulbs in a 2016 LCI

Has anyone swapped out the reverse bulbs to brighter LEDs? If so, which ones did you get and how do you like them? Did you have to code the car to get them to work?

Thanks

I did my 2013 335i's reverse lights - they operate right out of the box, but you have to code out the warm and cold "bulb checks" to prevent their "flashing" every couple of minutes (it looks like a strobe flash). That could be pretty startling to anyone following you at night. Also, there's a 3rd coding that basically tells the car that the bulbs are LED, and you do this for both right and left sides.

Bulb-wise, there are several choices for LEDs to replace 1156-type bulbs. Same base, just much brighter LEDs than the OEM incandescents. Available from a number of online sources - just google "led replacement for 1156 bulb".

Are the reverse bulbs in a LCI the same as those from pre-LCI?

I put LEDs all around and it'll be nice I can reuse any parts when I move to my 2017.

It's the reverse light. What is the point of changing it?

My LED reverse light is like 2x brighter than the OEM reverse light. I noticed day and night difference at night when the car is in Reverse

Which LED bulb did you get? Most bulbs that are available (with multiple SMDs) don't have enough light output... unless you installed a CREE bulb?

Yes, Cree
I mostly drive at night with almost no one on the road so I need as much light as I can, including when I have to back up

They work wonders when you have a backup camera. I went the weisslicht bulbs in mine, and they light the world up behind my car.

I'd imagine they'd still be the same bulb.
