Well, first off, we only complain here. I don't think lots of complaints about wind noise make it to BMWNA. I, for one, have very little free time plus a sizable amount of laziness.

Secondly, not sure how fixing this in the LCI or next model is going to help us - unless we'll buy the next car.

I don't have much hope. But at least it springs eternal

Im a little confused as to where that picture is on the window, is your car black? or is that glass on either side of the rubber?

Its actually a picture of the front door looking from front to back, the division on the left is glass, the division on the right are the two plastic pillar covers from the door edges, the gap that was sealed is the top gap formed when the window is closed against the upper seal.

Sorry, I have to shoot it close up to see the gap and just the right angle to avoid really bad reflections from the tint.

Here's the area in the pictures:

Excellent, thank you
Will investigate... Cars booked in for the 20th for a collection of niggles and wind noise is on the job card also.

I don't have much wind noise yet but has anyone else noticed a good size gap between the front door interior trim panel and the B pillar molding? I can actually see about an inch of the Estoril Blue door frame from the interior. If this was mentioned previously I apologize. This might be causing some additional noise

I'll take some when I pick the car up from service later today. From the interior, it's from the back edge of the front door interior trim panels to the B pillar. Very obvious if you look but it took me over a month to notice. Very odd looking.

BTW - the tech said BMW does not like to recode the ASS but it's your car so we will not try to dissuade you like other dealerships (glad my service dept is about the client - I know many of your dealerships had issues with this based on posts that I read).

Back to my post. They gave me a 328 base loaner. The cabin is almost SOUNDPROOF! I can barely hear anything outside of the car. It can't be this dramatic, can it?

I plan to inquire when I pick up my car today
Do you have any update? thx.

This is nothing new. The E90 was the same. You definitely notice it more with lighter coloured cars. I don't believe this has any impact on the noise though.

Ok thanks. My E92 was black so I probably just never noticed it

Unfortunately, no. The SA was a DB and I didn't have the patience to ask. I have to take it in for some minor "issues," so I plan to discuss it then.

The wind noise is probably another way to help and warn North American drivers that they MUST drive below 70 mph. Clever, very clever BMW. They think of everything.

Should the car be really quiet inside at 30+ mph? I can hear wind noise from both sides, but not sure if it is normal or not. Sounds like it is even on the both sides of the car. I thought maybe it was around the outside mirror area but I'm not good at pinpointing.

There should be no wind noise at 30 mph. I do get some wind rustle when doing very, very high speeds. According to the Bodyshop manager at my BMW Dealership, it is the door mirrors that are mainly to blame. Apart from this, my car is pretty near perfect...... so far.

Bringing the car in on Monday so I'll bring it up to them. I can certainly hear the noise over my radio at reasonable volumes. My passenger power seat is not moving forward and back so I'll have it there anyway!

Also check that the front doors hang properly. This could also be a cause. It's an easy fix whuch requires a simple adjustment of the latch on the B Pillar.

Funny things electric seats. Always had problems with them on my cars, so this time I did not spec them on the BMW. Don't need them anyway as I'm the only driver, they increase the weight of the car and can often go wrong. Less electrical adjustments mean fewer problems.
