Removed my fogs & no error message...

As the title states - I just removed my fogs fully expecting to need to code out an error message but nothing at all.

After doing some research here and a couple other places that surprises me - but I don't know a lot about these things so maybe someone here will jump in and tell me it'll take a little while to show up?

As long as you don't try to turn on the fog lights, you shouldn't get the error message

I should have added....when I try to turn them on all I get is this - I wouldn't consider this an error message (or maybe this is what everyone was referring to) also nothing in system check etc

I noticed when doing a switch to LED that the fogs don't react the same as the headlights with respect to warm/cold checks. For instance, they receive pulsed voltage when the car is unlocked but the ignition isn't switched on. I didn't delve deeply into what the cause was, I didn't care once I got them working. My educated guess is that they don't throw the same warning as the headlights do, and what you're seeing on the dash is the warning for the fogs. Since you have no reason to turn them on I wouldn't worry about it.

Hey looks great! What did you do with the existing wiring? Zip tie off to the side?

Yes we had the whole bumper off so it was quite easy to cover the connectors with some black cloth tape (to protect them) and then tuck them away - all in all it was about $60 in parts (two grills) and one hour of work at the body shop

Hope this helps

Were did you purchase the two grills. I want to do a fog light delete as well because I have broken two sets already just by driving to and from work.

Little rocks and road debris causes them to crack. I even used a protective film on the second set and it still did not help.

Let me add a couple things that may help....
  • you need to drop the front bumper to do this - if you can it do without removing the bumper my hats off to you
  • In this diagram I replaced "15" with "14"
  • Behind the fogs grills #14 (call them what you will) - there is a plastic bracket that mounts to the bumper and supports the fogs (i dont see it in the diagram - maybe it's there, it may be part #20) - I modified (cut out) a portion of this bracket otherwise you would see a circular (shape of the round fog) plastic bracket behind the new grills

Hope this helps - all in all I would say its a super easy modification and should take maybe an hour - the vast majority of that time is removing and reinstalling screws that support brackets, the bumper etc
