Well yes, if I really only cared for the steering wheel then I suppose it'd be cheaper to forgo the package and just retrofit the M Sport steering wheel later. But the aero bits were definitely desirable too and imo it changes the look of the car dramatically for the better. I probably couldn't have lived with an F31 if I couldn't have it with the M Sport + Estoril Blue combo. So in my case the package was money well spent.

And I get your point about the depreciation thing but then again my whole car probably depreciated by like $10k the moment I drove it off the lot so I'm probably not the best person to comment on what makes sense financially.

I don't think M-sport is 'nicer', just different and more aggressive. In my non N55 car, the extra cooler wasn't necessary either. Why pay $2600-3000 more for things I didn't want? I don't really see the fuss on the M-sport steering wheel either vs the 'stock' one. Anyone care to point out what the advantages are? Both are leather and both seem to have the same control layouts and paddles. What am I missing? (I know there is an electronic one, but we're not talking about that one.)
My last car an e90 msport had the fog lights and I never used them and now I prefer the fog light delete--think the front looks cleaner.
Everything is subjective but here is my opinion why the Msport is completely worth it: The wheel is the single item that connects you to the car--if it feels great, the car is improved that much more. The msport wheels(and I have the 18") are better than any other stock wheel--all the others look blah. The front end, as I've said, looks plain and like a smiley face that was just sort of thrown in at the last minute and really does not have any standout styling to it. The side skirts and rear are nice but only translate to small differences.

But, for me a BMW is a step up of a car compared to Honda, toyota, hyundai, ford..etc etc so I like to have all the options and fulfill what I think it should and can be in performance, technology and styling. But that is subjective.

If you do decide to get the sport line and retrofit the M-Sport keep in mind that it will cost quite a bit. Not only are you paying for paint, removal of old bumper, install of new but they also have to pull the radiator out.

Pull the radiator for what? I have taken a lot of front bumpers off and have never had to take a radiator out.

I have decided to get the Msport. I am just trying to figure out whether I am going to restore my 1965 C10 Truck before or after I get the 335. I also found one 328 the colors I want plus every option I want except cold weather pkg (does have heated front seats) for a really good price and the warranty is until 9/2017...that is the only 328 in my list of 5 or 6 I am considering. I may just wait and keep my current e90 for a bit and look again in 5 or 6 months...I don't want to rush it and want to find what I want.

There is not much more that can be said. It's subjective to your own opinion. IMO it is a must have if you like a sportier looking car. As others have mentioned, 3-series (especially here in South Florida) are a dime a dozen. 3 series with the M Sport package, not so much.

The OEM M-Sport configuration needs it done. I don't know exactly why but when mine was done I was made aware. If you are not using an OEM Retrofit kit then you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Get M sport. It's a bargain. I made a mistake (IMHO) of getting Sportline.
I mean, it's a great car and I still have it, but you get so much more with M sport.

The 3 Series driving down Sunset blvd here in Hollyweird are as common as white chicks ordering pumpkin spice lattes at starbucks in November.

I think OP already made the choice for M-Sport, but here's one more "yes" - go for it. I think the bumpers / trim look so much better, and as others have pointed out, the steering wheel really is nice.

Good luck in your search. Please add pics to this thread when you get your new baby.

I have...and MSport it is...I am on the hunt...looking for EBII ...not in a super hurry, looking for a highly optioned car for the right price. A few candidates out there...but not the perfect one yet. Will post pics when I get it. Thanks for all the replies. Nice being part of a community that loves cars.

You'll meet some great people, and some...who are quite entertaining.

I basically learned all the do and don't for my car from these forums, also learned alot about what the weak points of our cars were and what mods/tunes were good.

Good luck on your hunt! I think you made the right choice; the one that will make you happiest every time you walk up to your car. I myself searched on and off for over a year to find exactly what I wanted (also to find one in my price range). It's been worth it. Had mine for almost a year now and love it more than when I first bought it.

Nah..probably not. As I said, the $2600 is worth $1200 after you drive it off the lot. My point was if I dont like/want it, why get it and pay for it. So I didn't. Yours may vary.
I'm firmly in the M Sport crowd in the F32. Other than the cool looking 18 inch wheels of the Sportline, the F32 looks pretty lame unless it's M Sport in the darker colors. In lighter colors you need a contrast with the skirts and a front diffuser.

With the F30, I like both lines, but do wish the Sportline came with the M wheel. As long as you treat and condition the wheel, it doesn't deteriorate from the sun.

I can find "almost" exactly what I want... I have a spreadsheet on the ones I am looking over...with the options listed with codes from the BMW vin decoder, so I can compare each car side by side a small picture on top of the page of that particular car. A little anal maybe, but I love to hunt for the perfect car (for me). I am not afraid to hunt longer. Nothing wrong with my e90, just have the itch. You are right, I love walking up to my e90 now...especially seeing the CSL trunk...I want the same feeling on the next one.

It's too bad they limit the color choices so much with M-Sport

Well I didn't find the f30 yet, but I did pick up a 1988 Porsche 944 yesterday. It is the Celebration Edition, only 250 were built for the US and 500 including US world wide. It has 48k original documented miles....plaid fabric seats was part of the special edition. They look brand new. I wanted a turbo, but couldn't pass this up. No power, but handles great and looks even better. I am putting it on a trailer to bring it home in the next week or two. It was in storage in Atlanta. Was a fun test drive...like new! bad pics, but you get the idea.

BMW put together a real nice M-Sport package. Do it in EBII and the car constantly turns heads.
