I like the wheels best on the Mineral Grey one, which line is that?

I'd like an MSport but with those wheels...

Sport line with optional 19s. I agree. That mineral grey 435 was sexy..

well at least from what I observed is that you can't add them on the 4 series builder unless you have the M sport package already in.

ex: i built a sport line, tried to add in the m sport brakes, automatically upgrades it to the m sport package..

so what i think is that you need to have the m sport in order to be eligible for the m sport brakes upgrade. don't think they come standard with the m line

The car stayed in sport the whole time on the track, so I can't say how it would have performed differently there.
how similar (or compare) would you say your e92 suspension feels to the f32 suspension (in both the xDrive version and sport mode version with DHP) ?

The xDrive which I am familiar with felt more planted than my car. It's supposed to be an inch lower, and it felt that way. It did have all season tires on the xDrive while I am currently running summers on my xDrive. I'm sure it would have felt better with summers on it.

The non xDrive cars suspension felt even better. Again: tires may have had something to do with it, as the all non xDrive cars had summer tires. The 435 with 19 inch wheels felt the best. It just felt more planted, but all 5 of them just felt a lot lower and more stable than my current e92. I wasn't expecting them to drive that much better than my car after so many negative F30 reviews.

yeah that was probably my biggest worry since the only thing i could really test in comparison for the 4 series was the F30... you nailed it when you said it felt "bloaty" and the steering was very light / overboosted.. those were the exact take aways i had from it as well.

however, in the FAQ section about the F32 suspension they said they its completely different from the F30, 60% more rigid, etc etc because they know the clientele who will be driving these vehicles.

after reading your review i'm even more at ease. thanks again

So just to be clear, all 5 had the Dynamic Handling pack (adjustable damper and sport steering)?

That is what then product specialist told us. He said when we put it in sport mode we would feel the steering tighten up, and we did. Same goes for the suspension.

OP: The F30 loaner that you have did NOT the DHP, correct?

Wondering if any of the 4-ers you drove had DHP or not... Edit: From your previous posts I see that they did. That's why you felt the difference in steering between 3 and 4. You can't compare non-DHP 3-er and DHP 4-er.

The F30 loaner did not. I did have a F30 335 loaner for 1 day about 2 months ago. It was fully loaded, but not sure if it had the DHP. I of course liked the way the 335 felt over the 328.

Yes, this was a marketing event, but the 4 feels nothing like the 3. The engine sound was the first thing I noticed and the biggest difference between the two cars. The Steering was different, you will just have to try for yourself when the car is avaiable in October.
You need to drive an F30 with DHP before making any conclusions about steering.

Awesome write up, thank you! Looks like an amazing experience. Also, pretty stoked to see some real life photos of the 18s. I don't recall ever seeing any photos of the 4er with these wheels before.

Correct. This is pretty much the only thing anyone knows about these brakes.

I don't disagree. The product specialist claimed it was redesigned for the 4, and I felt no similarities at all between the f30 and f32 when it came to steering.

To help me: the DHP just changes steering and suspension when going from comfort to sport? That's what I felt, and even comfort mode steering felt good.

Excellent write up, thanks for sharing. I would be very interested to hear the new and improved N20 sound, and I'd definitely like to feel the improvements in steering.

I still think it's kind of a thumb in the eye to us F30 drivers who buy BMW sedans for their sportier driving experience. It doesn't seem right to intentionally "downgrade" the sedan just to change the experience back to expectations with the coupe. I had to spend extra on aftermarket springs and tires to get closer to the classic BMW "feel", when apparently I only needed to wait a few years for the F32 to be released.

Other than the minor differences in the front end suspension of the F32 (which affects both handling and steering response), I'm hoping that a software update will get us F30 guys some better on-center feel and heft.

this is going to turn into

DHP -- worth it or not

(which I welcome because I personally don't know either, none of us will be able to tell until the 4 comes out and we can test one back to back with and without)

I'm sure BMW knows of the complaints the F30 has, and there will be improvements. I still loved and enjoyed my F30 loaner. The biggest thing was also how much lower and more stable the 4 felt. I would never say the F30 isn't a sporty car at all.

Slightly concerned that driving a car was one of the most exciting experiences of your life... as nice as the car is, you should probably get out a little more...

Haha.. I knew I'd get called out on that. It's just me being excited.
