Smile Spotted! (F36) Alpine White 428i xDrive Gran Coupe

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Well yesterday, as I was coming out of the bar, I noticed this Alpine White BMW 4 series gran coupe from the corner of my eye sitting in the parking lot. As it's not released yet, of course I had to get a better look to verify. Turns out my suspicion was correct. It's the new 4 series gran coupe and upon closer inspection, looks like the 428i xdrive with badges covered up and dealer plate. Anyways, I snapped these quick shots with my cell phone. Enjoy!

Thanks for the pics. Hopefully we'll see the config go up on BMWUSA after the NY autoshow next week.

Debating between 4 coupe or 4 Gran Coupe... And I think that the 4GC is wining the battle...
Great Pics!!!

I just saw one in red tonight as I was stuck in traffic on the G.W bridge. Thought it was a normal 4 series until it passed me and I noticed the rear doors and the camouflaged roundel and numbers. Looked pretty sweet. I tried to snap a few shots but I could get up next to it again.

I do like how the top half of the rear is almost a straight slope instead of flat lining where the trunk is. It makes it look like a GT version.

Fail. This car wasn't worth the R&D. Even the sedan looks better and is also lighter. Looks like a marketing team ruining the work of the design team.

Look at the 6-series Gran Coupe. THAT was worth it and that is a true 4-door coupe. And the sales numbers prove it.

This is so no meaning car ... I was trying to compare it with Audi A5 sportback ... But no way ... The Audi looks much better and with a sleeker rear end.

Big Fail! ... What next BMW ? 7-Series GT ?

Excellent pics considering you were leaving a bar at that hour of the day. LOL.

I swear for the life of me I can't tell the 4GC from the 3GT unless they are next to each other.

Also, I still can't get past thinking that the 4GC and 6GC shouldn't have just been the standard 3 and 5 series sedans. I think the "flow" and connection from one model to the next would be enhanced that way. But, hey, I'm not privy to BMW's market studies....I guess they know what they are doing and at the end of the day, it doesn't really affect me one way or the other.

All the best.

Good thing they covered up those roundels. Otherwise we might have suspected that it is a BMW.

...

Awesome looking car. I can easily envision a silver 435 xDrive in my garage when my F10 lease wraps up in a couple years. This car is a little smaller, a little lower, a little tighter, and a little faster than my 535. Just what the doc ordered.

Thanks for posting these detailed pics. Great find. Interesting to see it in a light color after multiple ones in very dark blue. Though in the images it looks more mineral white than alpine to my eye. Clearly not to everyone's taste (what is?), but I like it.

Why make this car? How is it any different than the 3 series? Other than looks, I cannot imagine the 4GC vs 3er having any practical real-life difference.

Sorry but BMW is getting lazy...

The argument could be made that the 6GC was unnecessary but at least it looks completely different from the 5 series. It looks sportier and thats what its meant to a be a niche vehicle. This though, this and the 3GT look wayyy to similar, styling and proportions so why even bother. The regular 3 series looks sportier than this IMO and its not a coupe.
