Electronic or manual handbrake ?

Last few cars I've driven all seem to have electronic handbrake. A 2012 530d Demonstrator I had even had one. So why does the 3 Series stick with a manual handbrake?

Do you have a preference ? Or is just technology for technology's sake ?

For me, I prefer the good old fashioned lever. I had a hire car from work once which had the electronic hand brake and it was a novelty but took some getting used to. I'm not a Luddite but some how I have more faith in a lever doing the job than pressing a button, especially when parking on a hill

Manual handbrake every day for me.

I just parted company with my 2009 Audi A4, which had an electronic handbrake, absolutely hated it. It didn't have intelligent hill hold, so steep hill starts well a bloomin nightmare. For me personally, I'm glad my wee F30 has the good old fashioned handbrake.

My car has an eletronic handbrake and my wife's has a manual one. Must admit, I now don't like the manual one on the wife's car. Mine works every time and does the job on hills. It is a step backwards for me, when (if?) I get a 320.

Besides from reliability issues (I've never seen any) ... a manual handbrake just takes up space that can be better used for something else!

Electronic for me ...... slightly disappointed that my 330d on order will be a manual handbrake.

Yeah likewise. As long as it's properly implemented, an electronic handbrake is great

Impossible to do handbrake turns with an electronic handbrake.

Lol

Said that to the plamf when collecting a new A6, you should have seen the look on his face!

Ps for the avoidance of doubt, the only donuts I do are Krispy Kreme or an occasional greggs. :-))
