Rim suggestions on a budget?

Hi guys,

So I have a 328i M sport EB2 and a set of 19 inch 245-R19 and 255-R19 tires set up on e9x M3 220M square 8.5 inch wide rims. But the offset is just a hint too much for my liking and I don't like the bulge of a 255 tire on an 8.5 rim. I'm thinking about trying an 8.5/9 or 9/9.5 set with a higher offset. Are there any good rims in the $1.5k max price range? I just don't want to get cheap replicas due to quality issues and such.

Thanks!

There are tons of good wheel choices to pick from in that price range. What kind of style wheels are you looking for and I can help you narrow down some choices for you

Well, there are lots of interesting styles, but I'd have to say I'm not a huge fan of 5 spoke rims except maybe some of the M6 rim replicas that I've seen, and I definitely want to go silver with my EB2. CSL style is good. But I'm more interested in brand suggestions which are strong but light. Maybe something like forgestar?

Okay so looking for something that looks nice but also want some performance out of them? Forgestars might be a little on the high budgeted side with a long lead time. Others are:

Apex - flow formed and very lightweight
Ace - custom offsets and low pressure casted
Avant Garde - affordable, low pressure casted and many design options
TSW - many options with some affordable flow form wheels

Apex seems interesting, but looks like they max out at 18 inch. I've read a lot of reviews about Avant Garde and for some reason people treat them like low quality replicas. Also, I hear they are pretty heavy for the most part. Haven't heard too much about Ace or TSW though. How about Alufelgen and VMR?

Curious.. I have heard the opposite for Avant Garde's. AG's and VMR's seem to be popular 'lower budget' wheel options that are held in high regard.

wow, 1.5K per rim "on a budget". Congrats to you! I was expecting you to say "i want light wheels forged for under 250".

I'd go with BBS LMs personally.

All the brands I mentioned are great high quality wheels at a good price point. I have been working with Avant Garde since they first arrived on the scene and have never heard many complaints. They are a low pressure cast wheel like many of the others and are quite light when compared to the competition.

So I've been doing some research and yes! I was just going to say, I'm between two styles now. I like that style quite a bit. The velgen you posted is similar to the forgeline GA1R style. I'm just not sure I could stretch a 255mm tire on to the 19x10.5 rim haha. Though I could go 19x9 square I suppose...Also, I like the forgestar cf10 style as well, which also comes in a million different sizes and offsets.

Any idea how much these velgen rims cost?

That's good to know, thanks! Also, see my previous post to see some more narrowed down styles i'm interested in. Also, like I said earlier, I'm interested in them being low weight. So for a 19x9, I think no more than 25lbs should be fair. If you have any suggestions from Avant Garde or such

Nono! $1500 total haha. I guess that equates to <$400/rim. Definitely a cheapo

Lol, sorry looks like my original post was a bit confusing. I already have tires. Want new rims to fit them on. So $1500 for a set of 4 rims.

there's a 60% clearance sale on tirerack.com right now....
$350 (including TPMS)/rim is a generous budget for sure!

if you're at 15 total with the tires your only option is cheap replicas I think...but the avant gardes are real nice for around 1k, plus tires you could walk away as cheap as 1600

Thanks for the advice. But I'm ok with 1500 with no tires. So I'm hoping to hear of some higher quality low pressure cast/flow formed rims (if there is anything)

Most flow forms start in the 550 range,

I'd advise maybe OZ Racing..lightweight and the ultraleggeras are around 400 ish

OZ are good.

Also OP, you might want to consider slightly used rims.

I bought my OZ from a member for 700, and I believe they were 1,500 originally. They were pretty much new, no nicks or anything
