Went to status 150 on Friday (8/3) but per 800# it says estimated completion date of 8/30.

my dealer shows this as well---

I also have a VIN#---would a vin be avaiable without the car being somewhat in the build process?...

curious as to why/how the car is in 150 status, but has a completion date so far out.

6/08 - ordered (week 27 build)
7/10 - production completed
7/16 - arrived at port of exit
7/21 - departed port on ship Integrity (IMO: 8919934)
8/05 - arrived at port of entry (B-more), 2 days late
8/?? - arrived at dealer

According to the factory tour page, the Munich factory is closed from 13 August through 24 August for summer holiday.

I know about the closure--but why would a car be in 150 status 11 days BEFORE they close?

May 9: "Putting the order into the order bank"
late-May/early-June: MY 2012 no longer available, so ordering MY 2013
July 1: Officially ordered
July 27 : Production started
Aug 7: Production completed, and being transferred to port of exit

My 335i is on the Miraculous Ace. It was loaded from SA on or about July 26. I orderd it ion March 31. It will arrive in baltimore on August 28 and i expect to pick it up on the weekend of perhaps Sept 1 in NYC. So I have the dubious honor of beating you. That's 22 long weeks!

Were you able to determine which ship it would be on before it loaded? I'm currently at the plant in SA waiting release to carrier. I've been trying to find shipping information from SA to NYC, but haven't had a lot of luck. Guess I'll just probably have to wait.

Dealer delivered it to my house today and I've been driving it around the last few hours. I am VERY happy - overall worth the wait! I just wish the dealer had said from the first it would be four to five months, not eight weeks!

I thought I knew based on the W&W schedule and was following another ship, Glorious Leader. But my SA called me and told me this (non-W&W) ship which arrived a few days earlier. I had actually seen Miraculous Ace arrive in the port but was waiting for a Gloroius to arrive No complaints about an earlier ship though. It seems that the SA deliveries are much less predictable. Hope you find out something soon.

I'm glad you are enjoying it, PK. I will soon be joining you in new BMW bliss. I suggest that you might give the SA some slack. Judging from my own and other's experience they are almost as in the dark as we are. The 335is were much slower than the 328s and the SA bulids yet slower because of the logistics. My lesson learned is that I will try to get a German prod number next time.

5/29 - Released to Carrier
6/15 - Dispatched from AG
6/22 - In transit via Onyx Ace (MITSUI O.S.K. LINES)
7/13 - Unloaded in Bremerhaven
7/20 - Loaded onto the Toledo (W&W)
8/02 - Unloaded in Port NY/NJ
8/04 - Processed at VPC
8/06 - Delivered to Dealer
8/07 - Final Delivery

Just about 5 months. Totally worth the wait!!

Yes that extra 5 to 10 weeks from SA is a killer - but this car is awesome! It replaced my 2008 M3 sedan which I thought was almost perfect and I like the 335i sport line better, I am surprised to say. Except for the auto stop start which I have to turn off every time I start, the car is great! If they had just made the auto stop start default OFF vs ON the car would be perfect.

After 9 weeks I took delivery last night. I'll get some better pics soon but here are a few that I took last night during delivery. I was a bit distracted so apologies for there only being a few and the angles are a bit strange from when I took them in the delivery garage area.

To answer the question that's sure to come. The black box in the photo is the active cruise technology. It's placed at the bottom of the front bumper and blends into the contrast look really well. I had to examine it closely to see what it was.

After about 25 miles - the car is awesome!

Put the down payment on mine on 5/25, was at the port (Jersey City via WWL Toldeo) on 8/2 and at the dealer on 8/6.
