coding with a netbook
I'm looking at venturing into the coding game, and I'm curious as to what kind of computer I can get by with. Would it be possible to use a netbook(chrome book is what I'd be after) or would I have to use something more closer to a windows OS? Again, I am very new to coding, so I really have no idea as to how much space I'd need set aside to run the program (I'd also be getting VAG COM since my mom has a new beetle that my dad wants to do some stuff with ) but to me, a netbook would just seem to make sense since they are small and cheap and don't really need much to run one.

Netbooks that don't run some version of Windows won't work. Most of the really cheap ones are running the Chrome OS and are strictly for browsing the web, etc. They're like tablets, only less capable.
Go to the Dell outlet website and you can find a pretty good buy on a low-end Windows laptop with minimum of 4 GB of RAM and at least a 128 GB hard drive. They still have some with Windows 7 available, and that'd be your best choice. Windows 8.1 has a terrible interface, and Windows 10 won't be out for a few more months.

I code my car with an Acer 751H netbook, 2GB Ram, SSD 64GB, 1,4 Ghz dual core processor.
It's a pretty slow piece of hardware, but once E-Sys started (it took a little time to), isn't too sluggish. Never had a problem from when I started coding. |

Make sure it has an Intel network card, im my experience that works best.
Have tried with an almost new laptop with a Realtek card in it, and the communication is slower than an older with Intel card in it. |
