I have heard good things about Whistle Pig. How do you like it? Man, Four Rose's Small Batch is a fantastic everyday bourbon at $28. My wife even drinks a full pour of it neat (she generally has a couple sips of mine). |

Don't worry...no one tips them, and they're doing just fine on their current wages. If you feel like they're underpaid, maybe you can rally up some troops and make your voices heard. Protest!

You are confusing the broski with BJ, both were pretty epic personalities.

I've taken my current BMW in to the dealer once so far (purchased Feb 2012), for an oil change I would have gladly done myself. As for the BMW7 character, unless he really is just a troll, I think we're seeing the difference between the smaller model driving enthusiasts, and those looking for a luxury experience. I would never expect the dealer to change wiper blades for me for free, "$0 maintenance" or not, but I'm not surprised that a 7-series owner would. |

Misunderstanding. I thought by "service workers" you meant BMW service and mechanics.

I have an eye appointment tomorrow morning. Swung by the ATM on the way home from work and pulled out $200 in cash to be used for tips to hand out afterwards. Figure $50 for the receptionist and $150 for the eye doctor would be good.
*Sigh* The cost of keeping my contact prescription up to date. |

Make sure to tell them while your handing them the tips that you drive a BMW. In addition to telling them, it would be an added plus to pull out your key fob with the BMW logo on it. This BMW ownership thing comes with some serious responsibilities. I used to keep 20 or 40 dollars in my wallet. Now that I have read the OP's tip tips, I will now keep $400 or $500 minimum. You never know how many well paid professional folks you will meet in a day that can use $50 as a thank you for doing their jobs. |

So one thing that annoys me more than tipping is those damn surveys. Every car company does them nowadays. The service advisor told me at least five times how important it is for him that I fill that out. I'd rather just tip $50 than bother with paperwork. Of course I won't tip cause there is no way to prevent the damn surveys from coming my way.
Not to mention, it's really difficult to rate an oil change on a scale of 1 to 10. I'm not an oil expert. We don't even have a dip stick, so I can't even verify that the oil was changed. For all I know they did nothing to my car (other than reset the timer), but somehow I'm supposed to rate the work performed. It really should work the other way around. Instead of us filling out a damn survey every time the oil change was better than a blow job, we should be asked to complain if something went wrong. By default, if they don't hear from me, they should assume I'm satisfied. |

OP is probably a service adviser somewhere hoping someone here is a moron that goes to his dealership and might tip him...
Being a 20 something, here's how they treat me at the dealer (see attachment). I'm in the front of the line and for some reason they're helping everyone else behind me first (I'm in a family members F10) $50 tip my ass. EDIT: And I'll NEVER tip knowing these assholes do this to younger people Last edited by Steve33; 04-16-2014 at 09:48 AM.. |

Best tips are: referrals (positive responses on surveys don't hurt either) and bottles of wine or fine liquor (if he doesn't drink, he can easily regift it).
Like someone mentioned, SA's are well-paid.

Tip my ass, just had them try to rip me off again! Had low tire pressure and then they say I have a screw in my sidewall... Guy refuses to show me where and tries to sell me a new tire. Said he wouldn't be able to get me the matching tire but could get a different one for $450. Told him we wouldn't buy anything until he shows me. Took it somewhere else, no screw anywhere. Went back to BMW, Mr Wonderful service advisor turns into a total asshole while I'm with the service manager, says I'm lying and he never said that... Crooks.
